Zephyr
For the first time in many years, the appaloosa mare that'd called these lands home, had returned. Why she had come back, she really didn't know. She had nothing to come back for, both of her loves, Drover and Kiah were gone, and she had no idea about Kiara either. She pushed herself through the branches, and brambles, coming up to the pumpkin patch. As she came into the clearing, she shook her body, freeing it of any debris caught in her mane, tail, and body. Her varnish roan coat was more prominent than it bad been in years past, starting to give away her age. Her dark brown orbs looked over the area. The summer season would soon give way to autumn and take its claim on the lands, the grass blades losing its green hue, changing to brown. And the bright vibrant contrast of orange pumpkins littering the landscape as far as thee eye could see. She moved forward, walking through the mess of pumpkins, to pick out a choice one to eat on.
She remembered eating on the pumpkins years past with Drover and Kiah. She halted herself when that thought came into mind. She let out a shaky breath, as she lowered her head toward the ground, like she was just about ready to crumble. Come on Zeph. Keep yourself together. You cant change the past, just move on. She was telling herself mentally. How well it'd work, she wouldn't know for sure. They say time heals everything, but for herself, she wondered if it ever would. She took in a deep breath, and pushed on again, and raised her head back up to look at her surroundings. She didn't remember it being this eerie before, she hoped it wasn't a sign of what else she had to expect from the rest of Mustang. Her orbs finally spotted a pumpkin that appealed to her, and broke it open with a front hoof, and began eating, trying to take her mind off the past the burdened her.

Kiara wasn't sure why she felt secure in this over-sized pumpkin patch. Something about the way life just stopped meaning something important. She felt like a child standing there alone, peaceful as ever and feeling spritely in her steps. Only once before had she come to a patch to feast on ripe pumpkins and bask in the glory with her family. It was the same family that she missed gravely. Everything seemed so gray without them. Her love for her husband and children had kept her on this earth, but their loss always nagged her. Drover was dead, taken from her ... And Zephyr, disappeared. In her wandering, she managed a small sigh, and her ears caught vibrations on the breeze. The roaned woman switched the direction her feet headed, moving toward the sounds.
If she hadn't seen it with her own eyes, Kiara would have never believed her eyes. Deep chocolate gaze hardened upon the older woman's pelt, looking every inch of her up and down in utter disbelief. If there was ever a moment of doubt in herself, now was the time. It had been so, so long; so many hours missing her parents and mourning their gone. Kiara felt her body jolt with angst and happiness, a jerking photoset of emotions that had her shoulder muscles quivering. She couldn't imagine a life without her beautiful children, including Versace, even as unwanted as her bearing had been. Yes, she had been violated and broken but in all of ten seconds, things changed.
The varnish roan woman let a cry escape her, something shrill that entailed a hard snort and toss of her head. Zephyr was never supposed to be a lesser part of her. It probably wasn't their fault that everything had happened this way. Tears brimmed her eyes and she couldn't tell if her mother had even noticed her yet, but she was bolting forth at full speed. She cried every second, cried out for the attention, because she had missed momma all these years. All of a sudden, she was here, in this pumpkin patch where things seemed dreamy. Before she could see her mothers reaction, Kiara stopped short just before her momma, almost toppling over her back.
“I didn't want to believe it! Where have you been?! I've missed you so!”
Kiara wrapped her neck over her mothers, sobbing freely. “You aren't hurt, are you? What about... What about dad? He's with you?” Hope. This was the first sign of hope.

Zephyr
In her own thoughts she was cornered by the memories that haunted her, a glass window was all that protected her sanity from it all consuming her again. All the memories of Drover, and their times together. The ups and downs that brought them to where they were at. It took her so long just to get where she was mentally and emotionally to just have the gall to come back to Mustang. She'd never thought that the man she'd called her mate for so long, and her dear children would have so much affect on her life that'd make into such a mess her head. She let out a dull sigh as she lifted her head, and turned it sensing some one in the field of pumpkins with her besides the Ravens.
Her brown orbs went wide eyed with shock as her auds pricked forward to the cry. It was an adult sound now, but she knew it was her baby girl Kiara. No mistaking the looks of her, she was her's and Drover's last live foal together, and it made her that much more precious to her now. The air around her seemed to lighten its weight around her, as Kiara ran over to her. She just couldn't believe that her daughter was here, she was still alive after all this time. She was hit with a wave of emotions as Kiara hugged her neck. She sobbed into her daughter's neck, and mane. "Oh my precious girl. I have missed you so much." she said between sniffles. She took a deep breath to regain her composure to reply to her other questions.
Replying to these questions was going to be rough on the appaloosa mare, after keeping these things buried as best as she could. "After birthing the still born filly years ago.. I don't know. It's like a switch went off and I went ballistic on the inside. I had left to be on my own for a while to get my thoughts and emotions in order, and then I had heard the news about your father, and sister Kiah.." she said, and that glass window in her mind shattered, and she pretty much lost it. She cried for a few moments, before catching her breath long enough to speak again. ".. And I figured that.. that something had possibly happened to you too. I had thought.. I had nothing left to come back to here." she said.
She took in a few deep breaths, to regain her composure some what, and hugged her daughter tight, and breathed in her scent, getting some relaxing peace from being here now. "I am fine now that I know I still have you.. You're still here." she spoke in a softer voice. All those memories that raced and flooded her mind seemed to dissipate for now feeling that sense of assurance that, she had Kiara now.
