The sensation running through her was not new, but surely unfamiliar. Where had she felt this before? It was years ago -- her first steps into the Den, the first gaze upon the king, her first shared emotion with him. It was an eternity ago that she had fallen in some type of love, something past lovers, but friends, of two peculiar equines. Both so different and so equal, standing as one, two equines she would never forget. Saffron stepped light across the patch of pumpkins, mere seconds after escaping the dark, tight tunnel. How had she gotten here? To be honest, she did not remember. Maybe it was more so she did not care. The charcoal skinned woman let her mismatched gaze look about, curiously and cautiously, as if searching for something. That something was a warm spread from her chest to her flanks. A blossom of love, the first official memory she recalled. Saffron was supposed to be here, because she could feel him beckoning her closer. She remembered loving them, leaning on them; when the worst came, they were the only ones there to piece her back together. They were beautiful together, just like Yin and Yang. And so instinctively the woman, feeling vulnerable and dazed, waited there. Saffron couldn't shake the anxiety. But it was a letter in the back of her mind, a memoir of sorts, reading he will come, because he always comes. He promised he would never let you down. And, she believed it. As terrifying as it was, Halloween never let her fall. But instead he would pick her up, even in death. So her voice came, light and refreshed, like the child she used to be, that first say. A mere whisper. Bonjour.RED&BLACK ! I reread everything of theirs and not ohk

HALLOWEEN ANOTHER MURDER I COMMITTED MADE THE FRONT PAGE Halloween does not feel real; this is probably to be expected.
He passed quickly. The pain was nothing. The act was never second-guessed, was proudly executed, was just a few seconds, was the blood seeping and his body arching and a hundred needle-thin bones cracking. He does not remember any of it, of course, cannot recall anything past Daihmin lying in the meadow on her last day. Had he been able to think about what he endured in the hours after, he would have thanked God for that - but he doesn't, and of course, God hadn't done shit for him recently.
God had done nothing but bring him here.
And what use was that?
The forest king was become increasingly frustrated by his state of being. His image flickers drunkenly with every step he tries to take, the ravens take no notice when he tries to sink his teeth through them, the trees whisper and howl but fall silent when he brushes against them. He almost wishes he'd gone completely; almost anything was better than being stuck in this endless, pretentious limbo.
But then - he is startled by the scent of someone he knows. Someone he lost, of course he did, Halloween has lost everybody, he has lost his home and his family, and - is her name Saffron? Her name is Saffron, he decides.
Halloween steps forward, the skin on his form not shuddering but flickering, his entire being like TV set to a dead channel: I know you, he says, soft and secure, and then seconds later, this smile lights up his face, like nothing he has felt before - a pure and brilliant beam. Where did you go?

Halloween is a fractured figure in front of her, beckoning her close and yet for a second, she is terrified. What she sees before her is not a full-bodied human; he manifested and appeared. But this was not the man she once knew, his alabaster skin glowed, and it was inhuman. But even in his ghostly form, there was something so beautiful and tormenting about him. Saffron stared, wide eyed and child like. And not seconds later, she was listening intently and letting tears stream down her cheeks in rivers. His smile made her heart crack audibly, almost, in her chest. She could not place the void that was now suddenly filled within. Where did you go? Saffron choked out a sob - nowhere, Hallow! - she threw herself toward him, but instead of the colliding of flesh, she simply felt a waterfall of dry droplets pelt her coat. Her eyes went wide again, astonishment and resentment filling her chest. He couldn't be gone like this, not so suddenly and so quick. She had PLEASE USE APPROPRIATE WORDed up leaving, but Gods she had never intended this to happen. Saffron let her ebony locks fall over her mismatched gaze, taking shaky breaths. Nowhere important. I didn't know when I found this place... I had forgotten everything. She looked away, and if it could have, her cheeks would have raged scarlet. Do you remember me? she whispered, stepping close again and staring into his ghostly figure. The black clothed girl wished nothing more than to be able to touch him, even if his skin was to be ice cold. Saffron had missed him terribly so, even when she couldn't remember him - his face burned in the back of her mind. Once it was a nightmare, and now it was because he was her best friend. And that thought made her smile through the immense sadness, head turning toward his crania. Halloween's beauty was unforgiving, even in death. In death... It made sense. That was why he was here, why she was pulled here like a magnet. Her greatest friend was dead now, dead and gone, and she could not get back the time she missed. But she had time now, minimal time, but enough to say everything from years past. How much she loved him so, and Daihmin. I will watch over them in this life, Saffron murmured, smile still pulling her lips but tears still freely falling. Your family, Nessa... But you promise me that you'll wait on the other side. Promise that ever day you will look down, and every time one of us crosses over, you'll be there to see them off... Her voice was rushed, like she was running out breath. Just promise me again that you'll always come.

HALLOWEEN ANOTHER MURDER I COMMITTED MADE THE FRONT PAGE There are no words to describe the weight in his chest. When Saffron speaks, when he recognizes the pain that her eyes do not hide, and each inch of her skin, something blooms in his chest so huge and crippling that the ghost king wants to fall to his knees. He ignores it. With his new ethereal existence he has lost all sense of weight, of time, of loss - stuck in an endless limbo, a state of decay that is eating him from the inside out. As he stares at her, the soft blue of his eyes is turning to gray, and the edges of is being are frayed and torn, like something is biting at his being.
He cannot feel it when she throws herself at him: he cannot feel what should be the solid comfort of her weight, or the wet tears that glisten on her face, Halloween is struggling to even feel a connection to this girl who is sobbing in his arms. As she falls through him, electricity arces through his body, a painful shock that travels all the way up to his brain. He stiffens against it and cuts loose a guttural snarl from the curve of his throat, stepping backwards.
She is threatening his frail existence, with every moment she stays here.
He realizes something:
I'm dead, Halloween says slowly, surely, and that is the last thing he says for a long time.
Then: gently: I know you. I trust you. I don't know why and I don't know if I should but I love, you I do, please take care of whoever is left. This isn't so bad. I should have come here sooner.
His smiles breaks. Please come soon.

There was something so beautiful about this moment that also killed her inside. All hope was now lost -- the last of her old life, ripped from her. Saffron wanted to question about Daihmin, but how could she risk opening a wound somewhere deep within his darkest realities, if he had any. Her breath catches in her chest while grief lets tears shed, the black cloaked woman shies her head away from him. Come soon, he asked. Halloween never asked that. He was always the strongest of them all.
Saffron inhaled and then nodded slowly. Someday, I will. I promise I won't make you wait long. Could it be that she had been right all along? Death was everyone's right of passage. Death was gifted to those with nothing left but time and hours of loneliness. Don't forget. And she smiles what she can only imagine is her last image in his mind. He has to go sometime, its impossible to keep him.
