TAKE ME BACK TO THE OCEAN, FEEL WARM SAND BENEATH YOUR FEET. EMOTION - ESCAPING FROM REALITY. IF I COULD ONLY BEGIN TO EXPLAIN ALL MY FLAWS, ALL MY FEARS, ALL OF MY STUPID MISTAKES. COULD YOU STILL SEE PAST ALL THE THINGS I HIDE AWAY, AND MY POOR CHOICE OF WORDS? BUT YOU WERE SMILING ANYWAY. WAKE ME UP IM THE MORNING, SLEPT TILL LATE AFTERNOON. MY DREAMS ARE DARK AND TWISTED. BUT TONIGHT, I'M DREAMING OF YOU. SNUCK IN THROUGH YOUR WINDOW, BROKEN GLASS CUT MY SKIN. BLED CLOSE TO DEATH WITH YOU ALL NIGHT, BUT I DON'T REGRET A THING. Jehan was alone once again. It was always this way - his heart belonging to someone, but they leave. His children, both dead, nothing remaining of his blood now. As he headed toward the Terrace, he let his sky blue eyes lift to the tree tops and birds that were surely heading toward south, somewhere warm and where they could survive. The man wished it was that easy, being free. That was honestly all he wished, to be unchained to sadness and feel something other than it. The sable stud didn't like it, constantly trying to recover.
There was only one face that haunted him. She was so young, fragile almost. Salem had been his saving grace, he had screwed up when fear had taken him somewhere else. Somewhere he could wallow in self destruction. Where his art would not suffer distractions, and where Salem would stay shielded away from his madness. She was a flower. A rose, a single entity which could wilt away. It scared Jehan to think he would hurt her - in any way. He loved her, like Romeo to Juliet or Hamlet to Ophelia. Their own story of love was tainted, like anything else he touched.
The stallion topped the Terrace, crown dropping to the ground and exhaling a sigh. Loneliness... It would kill him.

You had always been unknowingly close to sable man. It was as if you were magnetic and he were a precious metal. It wasn't long ago that he'd shut you out, had left you standing on the front steps of your apartment with an empty heart and a cold mattress. It had been a long time coming, and it might have hurt more if you'd actually let yourself fall in love with him. But you'd known from the start that it would be the worst time to fall in love with an artist like him. He'd just had everything torn from his grappling hands and you never wanted to end up being somebody's everything. It was a recipe for disaster, because once he'd gotten his shit nearly together again he realize that he might not be good for you. But you didn't want what was good for you, you wanted him and he's leaving you breathless on a brick staircase.
So you go up the steps and into your home, you let him leave, and you don't hang around his favorite bookstore or bar or café just to get a glimpse of him. You wait, because you know that if he even smells the scent of your floral perfume that he's going to go spiraling back into the abyss that you originally dragged him out of. You wait until you know he's ready to be opened up again, he's mended his own wounds and you are sure he can handle the weight of your heart being next to his own.
That's when you showed up again, because little did he know that you'd been keeping tabs on him from a distance. Your lithe limbs ambled quietly up the terrace slopes. He's just ahead of you around the bend on the path and you can feel your heart rate accelerating, a mix of excitement and nervous anticipation. You practice the words you've been planning to say but the lump in your throat isn't moving and he's not to far off now. Yards, feet, inches, and you could reach out and touch him with the velvet of your lips. But you don't because he's not ready just yet and you won't light a fire that you can't extinguish. So you keep your pixie head close to your chest and your body close enough to feel the warmth radiating from his painted skin, but not close enough to touch. You had wondered what to say to him for a long time now (you where never as good with words as he was) and the words are finally coming to the surface. "You look well."

"I WAS FALLING FOR A GIRL WHO WOULD ASK ME TO COME OVER, IF JUST FOR A DAY, WHEN HER PARENTS WERE AWAY - NOW ALLS I CAN DO IS LAY IN MY ROOM, FALL ASLEEP, DREAM OF YOU, THEN WAKE UP PICTURE NOTHING ABOUT IT."
"Do I?" Jehan exhales an empty chuckle, unable to look at her yet. His cerulean gaze cannot break from the treetops and skyline, because he is far from well. He has left her alone so many times before, knows that she is always there, and hates himself for this. Love has always escaped him, been a rocky mountaintop that he could not conquer. How was he supposed to feel? Salem had appeared from no where and taken his heart by storm - in his darkest moments, she had been a light that never left. A shaky breath makes his lips quiver gently, eyes closed but he still turns his crown toward her. There is silence, before his eyes flutter open and he watches her. "I've been a fucking mess without you."
The man can't help this reality. He left her, she stayed, he hated himself more. How could she want him, after abandoning her? And how could he ever begin to open up, wouldn't his darkness consume her, too? Everything he loved died! His baby girls, his lovers... Jehan has always been a recluse because of loss. Remembering all of the time that he spent alone in his apart.ent, staring at an easel; quickly, his own skin had been the empty canvas, paint as red as blood making a masterpiece that were now whited out scars. All of the time that he had spent watching her, glasses slopping down his face, mesmerized by the innocence. Jehan closes the small gap between them, because it has been far too long, and he's ready. His skin blazes and muscles ripple, pressed closely to the fawn spotted dame.
Jehan's eyes turn away, like they always did. Silvery hairs droop in his face and he does nothing about it. He has always relished in silence, and this is truly what he's always wanted.
"Alls I can promise, is that I won't leave again." Her.

"You seem surprised." The words fall from your lips with a halfhearted sigh in response to his empty laughter. He won't look at you, and it's obvious now, as you quietly study the contours of his sable face, that he has never truly had faith in himself. It was in that moment that you couldn't think of any other place in the world you'd want to be at this very moment. You're too far gone, lost in the beauty that is that wonderful, masterpiece of a man, how fascinating it must be to only put your faith in others. Yet how sad to have to rely on them to save you. Now he's adjusting his crown to face you and you're forced to hold your breath to suppress the gasp tat's threatening to bubble up from within your chest. "You were. Even more so before you left." Your hazel eyes shift to face toward the ground at your feet, watching the way the top soil turned as you dug your toes to the bedrock. That was a time you preferred not to think about, more importantly, you didn't want him to think about it.
Now he's pressing himself against your dainty side and it's too late to muffle the sharp hitch in your breathing. You settle quickly, pressing closer to the warmth of Jehan's painted side. He's looking away again, as if he can't quite accept the reality that he's in, like he doesn't deserve it, and he's promising you that he'll never leave again. You outstretch your velvet muzzle to gently brush the silver locks away from his shielded sky blue eyes, before placing a feather-light kiss to his temple. "I'd follow you anywhere." And you weren't lying.

Jehan can feel her body rising and falling beside him, her breath was a mixture of what he only assumed as anxiety. It was often that he caught her fiddling around with ideas and things around them, and he loved to see emotions running ramped throughout her. There was always something deeper than the surface which made him ever curious, even delighted. And his weary gaze shifts as she speaks, chewing the bottom of his lip to think. At any mention of the life before this, the sable man would have normally grimaced, pushed away, screamed even, because the memories once broke broke heart worse than when it happened. Jehan was constantly in recovery for his lives traumas; today, however, when happiness peeked its head out, they did not drive it off. He held a smile, one he hadn't dared in so long. "I'm never surprised when you're around," he mutters in response to her finally, after a long pause.
A brief moment of alarm raises in him, watching the way that surprise washes over her. The embarrassment is cute, he's always thought so. Many times he would examine her (in public, usually) and the way in which things affected her. And his head cocked to the side as she lowered her head, clearing his throat directly after she spoke. Jehan's muscles coiled and almost suffocated him, a singular moment where he was brought back to the beginning, and he shamelessly choked on his pride. And he asks her something, truthfully. "Would you have been drawn to me any other way?" It's accusatory, surely, but there is a smile a mile wide on his ashen lips, shaking his head and exhaling a small chuckle. "Salem..." The sudden shift of his mood is because he listens closely to her, feels her lips brush his face and is caught off guard, almost. Jehan wrapped himself around her, embraced her small bodice and lay kisses over her shoulder. He has never been the kind of man with physical needs — for quite some time, he was sickened by the thought of lust or need.
But he needed her. The stallion placed a kiss on her temple, smiling into her soft skin. "All will be well with our world, Salem. Together, I believe we can be invincible."
