The coal black stallion galloped across the beach his coat contrasting against the glittering waters. His mane and tail, which was free of tangles and brambles, flew out behind him as he jumped over debris washed up by the ocean and splashed in the water that came up on the beaches. He slowed, the sun shimmering off his sleek spring coat, and snorted shaking his head against the mist of water. He walked farther in to the beach his nostrils flared from breathing hard and his legs and underneath his belly were glistening with water and his tail dripped droplets of water onto the sparkling sand. The sun was warm on his back and he stopped raising his dished face, closing his eyes and basking in the warmth of the sun. 'This is the happiest I've been since that day' he thought lowering his head and opening his eyes which were as dark as his coat though they didn't shine as bright. Behind them was pain and sorrow with longing and desire of a new happier life. Ivanhoe the black Warrior Prince was what he used to be called, but no more. Now he was just plain Ivanhoe. No title and no home for the moment. He shook his head and snorted. 'Enough of my whining. I have this land now and a new life. No one knows me and right now I like it that way.' he pushed back the thoughts of his past and walked to find fresh water to wash down the salt that made him thirsty. His coat still shimmered in the sun, but he didn't walk like a free stallion with a new start with his head lowered and feet dragging on the sand. His vision became glossy and he realized he was starting to cry as a tear ran down his dished face. "Suck it up Ivanhoe you've been through to much to give in now. Dry it up and be brave." he said to himself blinking away the tears. "Mother would tell me to be strong for my brother's sake and I have to be. I have to be strong." he added as he found a stream of water and took a long drink. He lifted his head and sighed the water dripping off his muzzle. "I must heed mother's advice. I love you still." he spoke to the air softly. Hawk musical

You got me scattered in pieces
Shining like stars and screaming Lightening me up like Venus The young mare had been wandering this place for seven days, most of her nights were just here walking around all by her self. She lowered her head and sighed, wishing that she could find someone else to converse with. It would not be so lonely! She shook her head and made her forelock dance in the air as she tried to shake off the lonely feeling. She was now determined to cheer up!
With that in mind she smiled and found a open land scape that had laid out before her begging her to let her self go. With black ears pricked forward she smiled and let her limbs move faster than a slow meandering walk into a powerful canter that felt good to have her spirits lifted once again. The sand was soft and giving under her hooves which felt as if she was a feathers floating on the wind.
The Ebony mare gave a slight buck of happiness and she tossed her head once more, then from out of the blue there was another horse she kept running as the other ebony equine was coming closer.
She soon figured out that the equine in front of her was not a figment of her imagination, she then came to a sliding halt in front of the stallion. She then stood there with her muscles quivering from the run. |Hello| was all could escape her muzzle. Hawk stood there eyeing the other equine wondering if she had angered the ebony stallion. She then lowered her head a fraction of an inch in a guilty manner for tossing sand on the stranger. words: 271 • tagged: Ivanhoe • notes: Listening to Lightweight

Ivanhoe looked up at the Ebony lady coming towards him. He turned towards her and raised his dished face and pawed the sand. He backed up a little when she came to an abrupt stop and sprayed sand everywhere. Luckily the fall winds had dried his coat from his gallop through the water. "You sure do look exquisite when you canter m'lady." he spoke first taking a few steps back. His voice was accented identifying that he wasn't born in Mustang. "If I introduce myself would you be as kind to do the same?" he asked tilting his head to the side. He was curious as to who she was and wondered how she'd come this far without harm. He knew he should find a place to at least reside in before winter came and this was a chance he could do it without being alone. He wouldn't force her to join him, but he hoped she would choose to. "I am Ivanhoe and frankly quite new to this place." he introduced himself first though he would keep his story to himself until he knew he could trust her. Until then he would be the gentlemen he was known to be. "Your turn now miss." he insisted quite interested in getting to know her. He stood waiting for the beautiful mare to reply basking in the suns warmth while it lasted.

You got me scattered in pieces
Shining like stars and screaming Lightening me up like Venus He spoke! Her ebony ears pricked forward listening to the stallion talk. Hawk bobbed her head up and down causing her mane and forelock to dance in the air. |Thank you kind sir... you must agree that our agile and nimble breed has contributed some...| the words flowed out of her muzzle and rolled off of her lips with a slight southern lyre to it. She thought it quite odd that he listed his head to the side. She smiled to herself at that thought, she was easily amused.
She raised her head up as she began to speak |I am Hawk... I am assuming my mother thought it quite amusing to name me after some bird.. but it seams to fit my person rather well... I have been in this world for a few years and have been able to get away with certain scrapes from thorns...| With that thought she bobbed her head again. |As you well know are breed is swift and agile, don't you agree?|
|It is nice to have made your acquaintance kind sir| She nodded her head as a half bow or tilt of her dished head. |I am new as well sir... I actually just got here a few days ago... I have now just only seen you so far... which I must apologize that I came to close to you..| Now it was his turn to speak. She somehow let her mouth run away just like she had. words: 244 • tagged: Ivanhoe • notes: Listening to Heartbeat Song

Ivanhoe smiled kindly at the mares openness. "Yes that can be agreed upon." he replied impressed at her ability of flowing speech. He noticed the slight accent to her words and added that to the good qualities of her. He listened closely as she introduced herself and chuckled at her humor of her name. She definitely wasn't a drear to listen too. He liked that and agreed she would make a fine companion. "I see you've spoken another thing we can both agree on. Likewise I'm sure m'lady." he agreed his accent as strong as ever. "You are the first acquaintance I've met as well, but you can be assured it was a definite pleasure." he assured her his mouth turning up into a handsome smile. He did notice the air was getting quite cool, but the sun was still quite warm so he wasn't worried at finding shelter at the moment. "As for coming close it is no discomfort. To be completely honest I quite like it. To be seen with a fine mare like you by my side is no displeasure. Would you like to walk with me?" he said hoping she would accept his offer. He moved to the mare's side and looked over at her his dark eyes sparkling with hope.

Hawk smiled up at the ebony stallion. | I am pleased that I did not offend you so| She stood there sniffing the air it was going to be getting cold soon. |Where have you resided to stay away from the cold sir?| She ask as she moved to his side and started walking near him. She did not know where to go to be able to survive the winter around here, maybe they could come upon a cave of some sort... It was a thought at least. Or maybe find some other sort of shelter to be out of the winter elements.
As they continued on there walk she nodded her head in agreement at his comment of having someone to walk beside him through life. |I would not mind to find another equine to be a companion with... it would be rather pleasant to have one to converse with through the days.. and night would not be so freighting... | she then nod her head once more in agreement with herself. |Is there a certain herd you belong to sir... if I may be so bold to ask?| She was pondering if the ebony stag had a lead mare to call his own. She does not do good at sharing what she calls her own. She looked up to his eyes wondering if he did have another mare... She would not share a role in leading her own herd... She would not do well to have another mare above her. words: 251 • tagged: Ivanhoe • notes: Listening to Heartbeat Song

Ivanhoe smiled at Hawks reply as she walked beside him. He listened as she agreed having a companion would be nice. He watched her graceful movements and her expressions as she spoke, her accent complimenting her way of speech. She was definitely the first mare to ever intrigue him so. "I was on the quest of finding one when you came into my vision. I know winter is coming soon and before I wasn't as worried to find one as I am now." he replied his eyes searching her face as he listened to her next line of speech. "No I am afraid I have no herd. I am my own master. I was alone until, as I said before, you came alone. Which brings me to my next question. If I may be as bold to speak thus we have both agreed that companionship is better than being alone and if you wish I would be delighted to have you join me as my first lady." he paused searching her face for any sign of refusal and before she answered he continued. "I promise to guard you with my life and you are free to tell me what your wishes are and if they are in my power to grant them, grant them I will. I vow to not harm you in any way and unless there is known danger you are free to be your own person. I hope you will take my offer into consideration. I've never met another mare like you and you intrigue me like no other." he had stopped walking and was facing her. His accented baritone voice rolled the words from his heart and his eyes relayed his hope indefinitely.

Hawk smiled softly as the ebony stallion spoke to her, his words were soothing to her like fine silk running across you. |I would be forever in your debt if you were to take me under your wing... for I am not very adapt to finding shelter around here..| She said as her nerves would surface for a split second then she would squash that down tight like a lid. There were no room for mistakes or fear in this world! If you let fear rule your mind then you have already failed.
They walked on for a few more miles then the ebony stallion decided to stop and face her, Hawk stopped a few inches from the stallion and raised her head a fraction of an inch expecting a rebuttal for her actions. She lowered her head once she had seen that the stallion was not going to be angry with her. |I am grateful to you sir as I had said earlier... I would not expect nothing less from a handsome stallion to not only protect what is rightfully his and to be attentive as well as sensitive to all in his care.|
Hawk stood there pondering her thoughts about this new turn of events that was presented to her. She would be silly not to accept him! She needed shelter soon due to the coming cold weather that was sure to hit in a few months. The air was crisp now and was going to be getting colder! |I would love to join you kind sir as your new mare... you are very interesting to me as well| She smiled back at him as she had been enjoying the view of his muscular shoulders and strong back with a power house of a hind end to match everything else!
OCC: I am sorry I do not feel good enough to put her template... I have been up all night feeling sick.. and now I have to get my college classes finished so I can go rest.

Ivanhoe felt his heart skip a beat as he listened to her reply. He was very glad that she had decided to accept his invitation. He was going to speak when she continued on so he closed his mouth and listened. "I am pleased you accepted." he replied touching his maw to her crown. "The pleasure is all mine." he said bowing slightly. He then returned to her side. He was very excited to have this beautiful mare at his side forever if fate was in their favor. Now he could begin to build a herd that his brother could join if he wanted.
The breeze was picking up and rustled the golden leaves and teased his mane and tail whipping around them. He started walking again across the sand glancing at Hawk now and then. He felt his heart squeeze every time she smiled or spoke or times when he caught her scent. He wondered if he was beginning to feel more for her than he already did. He now knew that he would not be subject to his fathers old fashioned laws.
He shook his mane to bring him back to the present. "We should cut further into land to look for a place to shelter until I can find a land to claim or can subherd under." he said turning inland and looking around for a place for cover. It was mostly open plain except for a hill to the far right worth checking out. "Shall we explore that hill over there?" he asked looking at Hawk.

Upon the hill, a stocky, bay roan mare stepped up, noticing the handsome stallion and what she assumed was his beautiful lead mare. Being new to the world of wild horses, she did not know much about the wild, but perhaps they did? They looked awfully accustomed to survival out here. Flicking her tail, she trotted down towards them. "Excuse me," she nickered in an Irish accent. "But do you know where we are?" Her movements were stiff and confusing as she tried to mimick that of some wild horses she had seen earlier. "You see, I'm new to these parts, and I don't know how I got here..." "I just woke up, and- and here I was...!" She giggled nervously.
She lightly pawed at the ground anxiously awaiting their answer, and with a sudden jerk, she lowered her head and began to chatter her teeth in a submissive manner. "I don't mean any harm to ya." She breathed, looking at the two beautiful dished heads in awe. She lifted her head and began to ramble nervously.
"Ya know, I just need some help gettin' around and I'll be out of your hair." She lowered her head again, looking back up at the two ebony black horses out of the corner of her eyes, looking almost desperate.

Hawk was walking away with the ebony dished stallion, she then could hear hoof beats coming closer to them. For a split second she tensed up but quickly relaxed when she seen the mare approaching them pair of ebony horses. |you mam are in the sparkling springs in Mustang... we can both see that you mean us no harm..| Hawk stood there looking at the mare wondering where she had come from.
when the other mare started pawing the ground in a nervous fashion, she flicked her ears forward to listen to the mare better. |I am Hawk the new lead mare to this Ebony stallion standing beside me... is Ivanhoe.| Hawk then let the stallion to come forward to address the new mare to chose if he would let the new mare into there new herd.
|you do not need to rush of stay and we shall talk... you do need shelter from the elements.. it will soon be winter.| Hawk bobbed her head with that thought then kept silent as she listen to Ivanhoe talk to the new mare. Hawk had hoped that the new mare would join them because the mare looked as if she was just came to the wild where Hawk was born here. The new mare would not do good to be left all alone there was no way the new mare could make it!

Ivanhoe was running ideas through his head for other places to explore when he caught the sound of hooves behind them. He new by looking at the stranger that it was a mare and new to this place as well. He waited as Hawk introduced them and stepped forward, the muscles stretching in his legs and chest as he did. He bowed slightly his long forelock covering his face. "As my lady introduced me already I will assure you again that you are no bother to us." he spoke reassuringly with kindness in his voice so not to frighten the newcomer. "As my lady also pointed out you will be in need of shelter since winter is almost upon us. See we are new arrivals here as well, but I can tell by your countenance that you are new to the ways of the wild horses and it is not in my background to be unchivalrous to a fine lady as you so if you are willing and my lady does not mind you may join us for the winter." he offered watching for the mares reaction. He had a feeling that Hawk wanted time alone as the new lead mare, but he admired her even more for offering this mare a place in their little group and he would be sure to make it up to Hawk. Meanwhile he needed to up his game on finding shelter especially with two mares instead of one.

Looking a little nervous with all the formalities, she raised her head a little when she heard his kind tone. "Oh, t-thank you... Sir, madam... But I do not wish to be a burden..." She flicked her tail and chattered her teeth in submission. These two seem awfully nice... I really do want to stay with them. At least for now... Safety in numbers, right? That must be why all the horses in this... Mustang, place... Stick together? She thought. "B-besides," she continued. "If winter is coming, wouldn't it be even more difficult for you lot?" She looked slightly concerned, but nervous, a harsh, cold night, alone, was not appealing to her. But still... Was it really right of her to join them when times were already seemingly hard?

Hawk smiled softly at the new mare |you may call me Hawk... I strongly insist that you stay with us! you will be much safer with us than out there all alone.| she spoke then noticed that Ivanhoe was watching her, she then smiled at him letting him know that she was perfectly fine with the new mare. There was going to be a time that new members would come and go like the tides of the ocean.
With that thought she then turned back to the new mare. |I am sure you will be just fine in our new found small herd... and I promise you are no burden what so ever!| she nodded her head in agreement with herself. Hawk prayed the young one would consent to being in the small herd that they were trying so hard to start up. Yes it was better to be more than just one against this harsh lands of Mustang!
|So what shall it be miss? please stay with us! you will be a much welcomed addition to our herd! Once winter is over if you still fill uneasy with us then you may leave of your own free will.| She smiled at the mare hoping that she would stay, it would help ease Hawks nerves about the new mares safety.

The mare looked up. "You're sure its alright?" She asked with a flick of her tail. "I mean... As long as its no trouble... I... Would love to join you both." She rambled, admiring the two horses' kindness and strength. She would be safe with them. And... Perhaps she might one day be of use to them as well?
She shook her mane and bowed her head, "Thank you," she nickered. She couldn't believe what luck she had. She had been worried when she had been chased away by other horses, being just another mouth to feed with not much to contribute on her own. But now she had a fighting chance at life in the harsh world of Mustang.
