History: Seris was born into a relatively normal herd, her father the herd stallion bred with each of his mares in turn, her mother not being particularly high-ranking in the herd. As a foal, Seris was happy, the wiles of childhood being a welcome cover to hide behind and ignore most of what was dubbed "adult talk" and live in relative harmony with her parents. It wasn't until about six months of age that she started to actually hear what the adults would say, more so what her father would say. Her father was a pure blood horse, and from their little spot in the desert was perfectly suited to both the sun and the sands. He was a very outspoken stallion, often using his tone and words to command his mares to do his bidding, expecting to be obeyed without question. He would cut them down with words, but not intentionally, more in a factual way, as if what he said was true. Seris started become old enough to understand and recognize what he was doing almost from an outsiders standpoint. She watched her own mother time and time again get told 'she would never be good enough to be a queen' and 'her breeding made her a less than likely being to survive.' For another two years, Seris listened to these sort of factual insults get laid upon not just her mother, but every mare in the herd. No one was good enough, and no one would ever be good enough in her father's eyes. The mares were dependent on him to find everything in the desert, he being born and knowing the land completely, and needing the safety he offered. Being cut down constantly made them dependent on him and what he knew, and due to being told terrible things about the outside world and how they would never make it, they followed him willingly.
Seris was not made from the same mold, she was born more like her father. It wasn't found until she neared three, and this sort of treatment was laid upon herself, and she fought back with the same treatment. Telling her father that he was no better a king that she herself can be was enough to create dissent among the herd, especially when she felt free to speak so defiantly in the open. Her father couldn't keep such a thing around, it troubled the fragile dependency he had grown in his mares and he forced her out of the herd before her third birthday. She has kept much of the same persona, though her eyes are not set upon greatness, but on the ability to not tie herself to a herd, never content to be used in the way that she watched her mother and most others in the herd be treated. That was the only account of herd life she knew, and she would not return to being beneath another's thumb, nor forge any form of dependency to another.
