AL-SARIM [The Lionhearted Misfit] The sun spilled in generously through the trees and bathed his skin in the warmth of day, highlighting the reddish undertones of his dark mahogany pelt. He was in the middle of composing a poem about a temptress he chanced to meet on a night of a million stars not too long ago. Life in this world called MUSTANG was getting quite interesting. But ever the rogue and wanderer, his heart drew him to move across the scapes of MUSTANG.
Al-Sarim broke into a run, now his hooves drumming against the pulse of the river. A falcon flew overhead, its cry pierced the air as it made an aerial show against a cobalt sky. What a glorious day it was. Sarim likewise found flight, another gear that launched him forward, a confident smirk on his lips. The sahib's strength was apparent in his physique. With just a mild tweak he was easily descending the slope that bordered the river. Heaven knew he could use the exercise and it was exhilarating moving on constant earth as opposed to shifting sands. Now the wind was with him and he settled to a even trot, finding the river had eased at this particular spot. Sarim had hardly broken a sweat. The earth was soft by the waters, and he motioned in now and took to cleansing himself.
He was no longer in the desert, the land of his rebirth, where there was nothing but time and sand and loneliness for miles. He was back in the part of the world that was complicated, conniving, devious, and yet beautiful in its ways. He could not be certain what summoned him back. Perhaps there simply came a time when wandering stars are called back to where they originated. The Old Kingdom was a faded dream, his world no more than a memory. Now in this new place, there were dangerous adventures plenty fold. There was a need to wash himself of the desert life he was shedding in preparation for the days to come. Outside the workings of Sarim's mind, he was like a youth rolling in the shallows and splashing himself, washing away the dirt and dust of all his travels.
Shaking himself off casually he motioned to the banks. The "sun goddess" he had met entered his mind then, how dangerously sweet she smelled. Sarim smiled as he motioned through the woods foraging for good foliage. I hate you for always saving me from myself I hate you for always choosing me and not someone else I hate you for always pulling me back from the edge I hate you for every kind word you ever said
His deep, mahogany skin burned delightfully in the warm summer air, reminding him of his birthplace. Hot, arid, dotted with olive trees, the Spainard didn't carry the accent which should accompany such heritage. Instead his tongue whipped out British chords (picked up from various animals he had met on his travels) with the odd Iberian note twanging through. His eyes were also a mixture of cultures, the ring of brown further proving his Spanish breeding, and the lighter tones of amber suggesting there was something of the Western world hiding deep within him. But none of this mattered to Nathaniel, he was who he was, and nothing would change that.
The danger of the rapids had drawn the stallion in, unable to resist such a sexual pull. The white water turned and writhed over the rocks like a screaming virgin, and duel-coloured optics scoured the beautiful countryside to see another man. Tossing his thick, muscular neck, Nate threw up his front legs and made his way toward the stranger with a snarl plastered on his mouth. It had been a while since a confrontation had greeted him, but this guy was begging for it with his pompous movements. The way he slid in and out of the calmer section of the river with careful grace set Nathaniel on edge, and the stallion shouted his arrival as he slithered to a stop not far from the other man.
Was this man as controlling of women as they all seemed to be? Maybe his death would give the world one less slave master.

AL-SARIM [Lionhearts and Misfits] One by the lake where swans danced, One on the cliffside beneath the crescent moon, One at at the gorge, just before the troops were slain And so four then now but one remain.
The red eye, the star of Fate had been watchful that night as on many nights...a reminder of his fate more like it. His thoughts were interrupted when another stallion made his presence known. The dark bay sahib tossed a curious gaze over to where the dark figure moved. The other displayed signs of aggression, as he stood tall, fangs bearing, and in the overall approach he made. Al-Sarim only continued on his way as if the other failed to incite his interest. His path was eventually blocked as the stranger made way over bellowing his arrival. Sarim remained calm and collected as all this took place, his eyes dark and somewhat menacing and fixed on the stranger. He made little effort to display aggression of his own other than to snort in an almost nonchalant manner.
"I am quite flattered sir, but you really aren't my type." He spoke casually to the other stallion. It was rather reckless and immature to approach a stranger as such, Sarim pegged him to be somewhat lacking in years or merely experience still. The glint in the eyes the other stallion reminded him of his late brother which begged the question as to how Al-Sarim should treat this stranger. As he had thought earlier on, things were certainly getting interesting around here. "But if you were making to ask me to join you for breakfast, I would not refuse the offer...I am rather famished." Now he was being just a bit playful, and that spark in his eye was starting to be identifiable as mischief. One thing could be said for sure, he certainly was not at all intimidated by the other beast judging but that casual grin on his face.
A toast to the Lion that laid his great maned head to rest, One for king and country that fell to the might of lesser creatures.

You were my conscience So solid Now you're like water
As the Iberian stag approached, he realised that his opposite was older, and clearly he took his age difference to make him superior. "I am quite flattered sir, but you really aren't my type." He said, and Nathaniel's ears couldn't help but swivel forward and a bemused expression light up his face. First impressions were important to him, and he certainly wasn't making a positive one right now.
"But if you were making to ask me to join you for breakfast, I would not refuse the offer...I am rather famished." The older stallion went on to say, mischief sparkling in eyes. Nathaniel had to distract the urge to stomp petulantly that a potential plaything turned out not to be a plaything at all, and instead dipped his head in apology for his arrival. He refused to bow too low though, as being submissive was not in his nature. Having a friend though, couldn't hurt. "Breakfast... Doesn't sound like a bad idea." He replied cautiously, taking his time over his words.
Gesturing to a shaded patch of grass overhung by young oak trees slightly away from the river, Nathaniel moved away slowly to make his way there. When they reached it, he was stumped for conversation (which is unlike him). But the company of a man is not an easy one for the Iberian stallion having grown up detesting them, so any male company that was not violent was understandably awkward for him. "So... What's your name?"

AL-SARIM [Lionhearts and Misfits] Had the younger been surprised by the response? Al-Sarim was certainly more than capable in a brawl, especially at the increased odds in one on one combat. But the day was much to beautiful to engage in such activities, the poet in him was also rather amused but the other's display. Sarim could not control the other's reaction. He had braced himself for aggression nonetheless, but none came. Satisfied with this, the hellion observed the other. The stranger could have been his twin brother, their bulky frames similar in build. Sarim winced at the sight of the courteous bow, the show of respect was understandable but reminded him that his age was becoming more and more apparent in the years that kept piling up.
If the stranger was surprised by Saram's "greeting," the older sahib was likewise surprised the stranger accepted the offer for breakfast. Indeed this was not exactly the scenario he had anticipated but it was...interesting to say the least. The silence did not bother Sarim though he sensed the other brute was a tad uncomfortable perhaps being in the presence of a male. Sarim's mind had never bothered with such anxieties...as far as he was concerned he was what he was and the world would have to just accept that. But to lighten the mood he said, "By all means then, lead on oh impulsive one...you will have to do as company since all the ladies of this land seem to all be hidden away or perhaps spoken for. A pity for the pair of us." There was nothing in his voice to indicate he was angry, in fact his spirits were rather light. His tone was casual, one might take it as a older sibling talking to the younger accomplice, there was a mild jest in his tones. Sarim wondered if the youth was a troubled one.
The dark bay brute studied the other wondering if he was troubled and that was perhaps why he had approached so. Curious young fellow. An ally could not hurt, especially one that was young, knowledgeable and could possibly be manipulated if necessary. The stranger spoke. Al-Sarim answered. "I am Al-Sarim...most call me Sarim. And you are?"

Until you're a corpse Until your black heart beats its last Would you laugh In the face of certain desolation
He was cheerful; sarcastic. The other stallion was confusing Nathaniel - where he came from every man was controlling, serious and demonic. But this guy, he was smart, carefree and jovial. The difference almost made the boy uncomfortable as he had no clue how to act.
He saw the older man studying him intently and shifted his weight - what should he do? Nathaniel was about to bare his teeth and pin back his ears in the only way he knew how before the other man said "I am Al-Sarim...most call me Sarim. And you are?" Regaining control of the bull-headed beast inside, Nate stumbled over his words in an effort to get them out (he guessed he should answer the way he would answer a lady - politely) "I-I'm Nathaniel. Nice to meet you - sir." The beast wouldn't allow him to dip his head again in greeting, so the Iberian stag looked awkwardly out over the river, admiring its clear, turbulent waters. It was a good spot to bring a woman whilst wooing her. Hopefully the ridiculous u-turn his self-assurance had taken would reverse itself before he met a woman. But at least this Al-Sarim guy was pleasant enough. "Are you new here too?"

AL-SARIM [Lionhearts and Misfits] It was amusing to say the least...watching as the youthful virile analyzed the situation and the company he had presently stumbled upon. "I-I'm Nathaniel. Nice to meet you - sir." Sarim responded simply with. "Likewise." Perhaps the boy did not know how quite to react to a more civil interaction with another stallion? How amusing indeed, this brought a smirk again to Sarim's lips as he turned now. As he shifted his attention to the vegetation and began to eat with quite the appetite. The sahib did not need to look up to know the youth had diverted his attentions elsewhere, discomfort smitten to some degree all over his body language. Sarim motioned to the waters for a satisfying drink before turning his attentions back to the youth. Did he not have any appreciation for breakfast? All these questions...Sarim could not help but feel...aged. He snorted, water dripping from his maw. "Are you new here too?" Again no hesitation to respond to the other steed. "As a matter of fact yes. Am I so easily pegged as a foreigner?" he asked casually.
Motioning now he turned and groomed at his shoulder where he felt quite an itch. Something shimmered in the waters and his attentions shifted. The sahib motioned to the water like a cat inspecting a mouse hole...finding small silver fish occupying the stream. Ever sharp, he did not lose track of the conversation. "Now Nathaniel...would you perhaps be at ease if we should battle now? Or perhaps you care to explain why you came at me as a tiger might a lamb." Sarim looked Nathanial's way now, still his tones light hearted and easy-going.

I wear my nine inch heels when we got to bed I paint the colour of my lips blood red I get so animal like never before So you press play and I'll hit record
This Sarim was so suave, so easygoing that Nathaniel couldn't help but begin to be drawn to him; to learn the ways of, what was quickly becoming clear to him, how a 'normal' stallion should act. Here, the younger man was an outsider, yet to be vetted and accepted by the cruel methods of society. They would hunt and rip him to shreds if they knew how different he was, how adversed he was to their way of life.
But the Iberian stallion wasn't one to quake in his shoes, wasn't one to shy away from making waves, no matter how tidal. "Likewise." One of Nathaniel's ears swung round to listen to the heavy baritone of Sarim's words. "As a matter of fact yes. Am I so easily pegged as a foreigner?" A lupine gaze followed the movement of night-tipped harks to settle on Sarim - no longer was there any distress or unease held in them, and a confident voice ensued. "You certainly were more at home than me, and your nonchalant approach may have fooled others, but I have experience beyond my years." Nathaniel had simply guessed the man's familiarity with this place, but he didn't need to know that. Besides, the egotistical beast inside was desperate to claw back some pride.
"Have you met any others?"

AL-SARIM [Lionhearts and Misfits] The younger stallion (oh how it pained him to think on it) seemed to be easing up by the minute which was good Sarim thought. He was yet learning perhaps the ways of playing nice with others, Sarim might have considered it an honor to be his teacher. The boy looked as if he could be his brother...possibly his son (damn you sands of time!). Curiosity poked at the virile as he pondered what this hellion's story was. Sarim had a wealth of stories and another to add was never something he swayed away from. Patience he reminded himself. "You certainly were more at home than me, and your nonchalant approach may have fooled others, but I have experience beyond my years." At this Sarim smiled. He had come to Mustang but a season ago. He had made an effort to understand the land before he went on to understand its inhabitants. In doing this he might first learn how to survive, where to seek sanctuary, and where he perhaps should avoid all contact. "I am from the desert a long way from Mustang might I add." This was a half-truth because the stallion was born in a kingdom as lush as Mustang with a river that divided more abundantly than the Liuwa River which pulsed before them. That was before his exile of course...to the desert which he considered the home of his rebirth and the only home he had left following the fall of the Old Kingdom.
"Have you met any others?" Others? Sarim snorted as he took a moment to assemble his response. "I had met a badly burned stallion by the Creek and a dazzling temptress...both inhabitants of Mustang. I've yet to meet others foreigner or resident alike...of course other than yourself. Where do you come from Nathanial? What forces of fate brought you to Mustang?" His tones ever casual and dramatic, his words perhaps more elegant than the moment called for. It could not be argued that he was from the desert with the somewhat narrow build of his crown coupled with his allure and demeanor. The dark bay still wondered what the other brute's story might be and also why he had approached so aggressively in the first place.

A little mayhem never hurt anyone I’ma gonna get some, get some, get some A little bedlam ‘til I'm coming undone I’ma gonna get some, get some, get some
"I too hail from lands far from here, but the need for a fresh start drove me from all that was once familiar." Nathaniel swallowed, waiting for a wave of homesickness to overcome him, and feeling strangely relieved when he experienced nothing. Maybe it was better that way, to be unattached, to be able to start again so utterly. He'd heard stories of men and women falling in love, caring for each so irrevocably and never thinking of anyone but each other and their families. As unmanly as it was, the young stallion wanted that - he didn't want to own women like the stallions of his homeland, he wanted one to love him, and for him to love her back.
All this went through his head so quickly that Sarim hadn't even finished his next sentence before Nathaniel was attentive again. Nodding, Nate was indifferent to the characters which the older man described, feeling neither scared nor bored by them. "My society is messed up, men owning women like money and trading them as such. It felt wrong, so in search for a better life I came across this place. You are the first I have met, but safe to say I think I'll stay awhile." For the first time in their encounter, Nathaniel offered a smile which felt foreign on his stoic face.

Al-Sarim [L i o n h e a r t s .and. M i s f i t s] The other stallion was so close to his own pelage that he reflected again on how they should be easily concluded to be blood brothers. Moreso, as the other virile spoke, Sarim took to observing him the more and recalled that he was once as young as this fellow seeking to make his own in a world that had not always been lovely dames and roses at his hooves. The thought of a 'fresh start' made the hellion smile inwardly. He had already found himself in the desert, but this youth had yet to find his own desert...let alone the man he truly wished to be. "My society is messed up, men owning women like money and trading them as such. It felt wrong, so in search for a better life I came across this place. You are the first I have met, but safe to say I think I'll stay awhile." Again he listened intently and reflect on the words. Sarim caught the smile that appeared on the stoic brute's facade and a smile played his own lips as Sarim turned and motioned now towards a tree that he might scratch himself across its trunk. Was the boy so naive in the world? The mercenary had seen the crooks and vandals of the world and how they operated in their knitted networks of cronies. It was his fortune to fulfill contracts for such scum. Though he never accepted assignments that caused direct harm to another...he could not speak for what was done to an innocent when he was no longer retained for his services. There was evil in the world, it was a fact. It was not within his power to change that.
With a soft snort the virile replied, "My young friend, all society is 'messed up' as you say...perhaps some more than others. Or perhaps some societies simply hide it better than others." His itch satisfied he motioned back by the waters and where foliage peeked yet from the earth and pulled at a last blossom before taking one more sip from the refreshing waters. The beast coughed a bit, perhaps taking in a bit more than he could handle and catching water in his windpipe. Shaking himself down again the beast continued. He cursed in what sounded like a foreign and ancient tongue. Finding some composure again the virile motioned closer to Nathaniel, keeping a polite distance between them. "I don't know where it is exactly that you come from Nathaniel, but I would suppose Mustang is as good a place as any to start over. Meeting a nice young lady is also a very good place to start for you. My journey is simply moving forward. I am looking for work, and a nice woman who might miss me in my absence and embrace me fondly upon my return. Trust me lad, any other woman will only make you miserable." The sahib laughed at his own jest. He was sharing so to speak what had brought him here though perhaps sparing a few details.
"Where now is your destination after this? Or do you plan to remain by the river?"
