Autumn was upon them, and Treasure was feeling refreshed. The Plains were beautiful, still a bit on the warm side and giving the feeling of being free. It wasn't home like Cattail Lake was, but this was the next best thing. The herd had dispersed, but she and Lolita were still near their old home. Treasure knew that Kladdan wasn't far off, but she still raised her head to look anyway.
Lolita, a yearling now, was growing into quite the young mare. She had maintained her rich dark black color, which just made the white markings more brilliant in comparison. Her blue gray eyes were bright and clever. She loved to run, like Treasure did, but it was obvious that Lolita's true joy was jumping hurdles. Not that there were many to jump out on the plains.
Currently Lolita seemed to have gotten a few bison calves to chase her. Treasure smiled at that. She absolutely adored her daughter, loved her more than anything else in the world. She was proud of her as well, and the wonderful filly she was growing to be.
Lolita was enjoying the chance to stretch her legs in a game of tag with some bison calves and yearlings. It was a fun game, and one she loved to play. Her mother and father rarely played tag with her, and she hadn't had the chance to see many of her half siblings since the disbandment of the herd. Her mother had kept her close, being almost too protective at times. Lolita hoped her mother would calm down now, since she was a yearling. But it didn't seem like much of a chance. Treasure still kept a very close eye on her black and white spotted daughter.
((Since I wasn't sure how many mares and foals are still with him, I didn't mention any. Treasure and Lolita are more likely to be on the outskirts of the herd/harem anyway.))
