AL-SARIM [Lionhearts and Misfits]
The sahib could see the charcoal lady pondering his interpretation of the poem. At her response he nodded once before tilting his head, taking a moment to study her. There was much life in this lady, what had she suffered and what was she fleeing from he continued to wonder? The perceptive hellion was one to question things, but he was also quick to draw his next course of action as well. Lost in his thoughts he perhaps did not register the smile on his face that came so naturally, that he was pulled back into the present with her feminine protest that he was teasing her. Al-Sarim shrugged before turning away; it was something about him that it was difficult to tell what he might really, truly be thinking. In essence, he was used to the grand lyrics of the Sultan's court, where he might often engage in debate with long time entertainers of the king. What Ebony offered was not horrid to him, it was beautiful and as unique as the lady herself.
It seemed the path had come to an end, leading out of the Misty Forest. "So erm. What now?" asked the blue roan fae. The stallion sensed the change in her, he need not eye her directly to see the mild distress emitting from her body language. Was she so disappointed that they had reached the end of the road? He turned now, knowing he would find her dark face tilted upward, her eyes meeting his. Sarim might have exhibited pity then or sorrow at the thought of parting, but instead there was amusement in his eyes at seeing how attached she seemed to be in so short a time. The dark sahib's movements were graceful and swift. His muzzle reached down to brush her forehead and caress her cheek where he remained as he replied. "Does it sadden you Ebony that we should part ways? It is...unnecessary that we should you know." He pulled back that he might seek her eyes again and waited to see how she would take all this.

Waiting for a reply seemed like a lifetime to the mare, more than a lifetime at that she was eager to seek the answer. As the stallion ran his muzzle down her face Ebony closed her eyes listing to the stallion. "Does it sadden you Ebony that we should part ways? It is...unnecessary that we should you know" when the blue mare opened her eyes she watched as Sarim pulled away. The response to his question raked her mind, how could she reply to that? Ebony knew she was coming to attached to a horse that she had just met but Ebony couldn't help it, finding a kind horse was hard these days. "Really?" The mare questioned still in surprise. Ebony once again looked to Al-Sarim her eyes now filled with hope. The blue mare was becoming blind of her carelessness in trust, after all she did not know this horse very well. Ebony hooved the ground slightly not sure what to say, why was this stallion so different it truly made her confused that she could not figure it out. Still pondering her own response she waited for his. Waiting for a response made her trail of thought start to wonder off, she started to think about other things. Sleet a very old mare Ebony had known when she was in the harem was the first thing that came so kind, Sleet was like a mother to the blue mare and she had always looked up to the elder horse with great respect. Sleet was the one who taught her how to sing and taught her poetry, one day Ebony had been off with a harem member and returned to see Sleet laying motionless on the ground her body covered in blood and hoof marks. Thinking this made Ebony lay her ears back, she would avenge that mare one day for sure! Ooc: ( vnes♥) Haha I kinda have a bad feeling about this!

AL-SARIM [Lionhearts and Misfits]
The flicker of hope in those eyes made him smile again. "Really?" was about the only reply the seemingly shocked woman could muster. A light chuckle escaped him and he took a stride forward before looking back, cocking his head sideways just a bit. "Really. It's as easy as claiming you as my own." The stallion said plainly and as he said this there was still a hint of amusement in his voice then. The virile did not like the idea of objectifying the lady as a possession, but these were the terms of the woods they were currently occupying. Beyond that, there was little the brute could offer her. What she did not know was that this was certainly not part of his original plan. Al-Sarim had roamed Mustang freely and enjoyed the liberty. He was looking into contracts that would pull him to other territories in Mustang. With so much at stake, it was certainly a bad time to take on a lady into one's care. But if there was anything Sarim lived for, it was a good challenge. He kissed the ash colored forehead of the belle before walking out and into the inviting daylight.
The zephyr swept by as did a falcon, performing an aerial feat before returning to the thick of the woods behind them. Out in the open again, the darkness behind it was poetic to say that it seemed anything was possible. Al-Sarim spoke without turning completely to face Ebony. "Then of course you will be stuck with a charming poet who rather likes to travel and has...a other, shall we say, more dangerous hobbies." Now he turns to look at Ebony. "Just say you are mine and it is done." There was a smile there as he waited now. He had given the lady a lot to think on, perhaps questions and doubts as well. He wanted no illusions now. If she was with him, then he would have to be sure he had her loyalty (that is, her silence). Likewise, she had to decide now if she trusted him enough to go with him, if that was what she truly wanted.

The mare watched as he smiled and chuckled, the stallion walking forward made Ebony put a hoof forward before stopping herself to listen to Al-Sarim "Really. It's as easy as claiming you as my own" his words made Ebony's heart start to beat a little faster, fear striked her heart for only a second, putting her ears forward she herself took a step forward. "Claiming isn't as easy as it sounds Sarim" she corrected with a smile. As the stallion kissed her forehead Ebony put her ears forward with a slight smile, once again an odd stallion doing odd things. The blue mare didn't follow after Sarim as he headed into the beckoning sunlight, Ebony surprised herself as she hesitated to follow after this wasn't like her. As the falcon flew over Ebony's head she followed it turning her head to look back into the eerie darkness. Only looking back as Sarim began to speak again, "Then of course you will be stuck with a charming poet who rather likes to travel and has...a other, shall we say more dangerous hobbies." As the dark stallion turned to her and spoke Ebony raised her head a little higher, if he was trying to scare her I wouldn't work, "just say you are mine and it is done." This made Ebony think, quiet a lot. Finally making her decision Ebony stepped out of the forest and into the warm rays of the sun, making a full circle around Sarim and stopping facing him she gave a mischievous smile, "danger is nothing but a word to me. Sarim you cannot scare me so easily..." raising her head to his face she kissed him, backing away slowly she smiled "I am yours"

AL-SARIM [Lionhearts and Misfits]
Ebony did not stir from his touch, she did not seem afraid (at least not for more than a quickly fleeing moment), she did not rebuke him for his directness. "Claiming isn't as easy as it sounds Sarim" he heard her say, and a snort escaped him though it did not come as a means of sneering at the remark. The lady had a point. He could easily have claimed her as any other brute would but he did not. Sarim purposely did not instill direct claim on Ebony, he had not come here to do any such thing. The invitation was there, the fact that he was interested apparent. The tender smile on her lips as he kissed her implied she was not repulsed by the idea either.
The dark bay sahib gave her time, she could have as long as she wished. In the meantime, his eyes glazed over Mustang as he contemplated the next destination. This was quite a deviation from his original plans...having a small band of his own was perhaps not the best of ideas for right now. If he played his cards right, and with his luck, change did not scare Sarim and he was ever the optimist wishing to have his apple and eat it too. Despite the sun's rays washing over the land, the cool winds spoke of winter...and it was then that it occurred where he should take Ebony should she come with him. The fae had to consider that life with him might not be all sunshine and poetic walks, that danger might well be lurking wherever he roamed.
Before long she was beside him again and his truth did not seem to intimidate her in the least bit. "...danger is nothing but a word to me. Sarim you cannot scare me so easily..." and at saying this she kissed him, her velvet lips a feather light touch on his skin. This time it was Al-Sarim's turn to be surprised (and this did not happen very often, and when it did it was a pleasant sensation). "I am yours" she added as she danced away. His heart skipped a beat then...ah the effect a woman could have on him. The virile tossed his head, his locks catching in the wind and his whipcord lashing before he moved after her quickly closing the gap. "And so you are, love." There was a spark of mischief in his eyes to match Ebony's as he circled her playfully and led now out and away from the misty forest.

Ebony surprised herself by what she did more than it did Sarim, she could tell though he was truly surprised. "And so you are, love." Ebony for once did not care he called her love with a short she watched as Al-Sarim raced to her and pranked around. Laughing Ebony followed in a slight trot to catch up, as the wind started to blow there where obvious signs of winter, the wind had a slight chill to it there was no way to ignore the fact. Trotting up to Sarim's side she looked up at him as she walked "so where are we going?" she questioned. As she waited for a reply Ebony got to thinking, the blue mare needed to get to know more about Al-Sarim so she wasn't just following a stallion around blind. Also that his long would she stay with this horse? A week?, one season?, or maybe forever. The mare didn't know maybe if she asked, was this the right time? With a snort Ebony decided to ask. Studying the ground as they walked she thought of how to ask. Finally finding a way to ask the blue mare looked at him again "Hey Al-Sarim...how long do you plan to keep me along?" she questioned, hopefully she would receive an answer, the mare wasn't sure what answer she was hoping for. As they walked and her still waiting for a reply Ebony thought about winter, ah winter a horrible time for her, Ebony's winter coat was always very thin and so no matter what she was always colder than the rest. Oh joy winter! she thought thought sarcastically. ---Ooc: ( vnes♥) Thanks! I like Al-Sarim he reminds me of someone I know <3

AL-SARIM [Lionhearts and Misfits]
The pace slowed rather quickly he, it left room to talk at this present time. Sarim made time to look at Ebony, to study her condition if she was really sure of herself that is. He sensed questions...though what those questions were only the lady herself know. The virile only waited patiently as they moved. "So where are we going?" Her voice filled his ears. He did not hesitate to respond. "To see...a friend." The answer was simple in the sense that he did not elaborate that his friend was the lead of one the territories of Mustang. "An ally would be a good thing before I proceed. I am actually on my way to the Islands." he added casually. "There's a woman with a possible job for me." Glancing over to the blue roan minx, he winked before refocusing on the path he was walking.
Thorns pricked as she addressed him a little more formally with the "Al-" prefix to his name, or course it was likely she did not realize this. "Hey Al-Sarim...how long do you plan to keep me along?" At the entirety of her next question, the virile laughed and came to a stop to face her. "I don't think I understand your question Ebony. I don't plan on abandoning you if that is what you are asking. You're free to do as you wish so long as you do not leave me." There was encouragement in his voice, that same warm smile on his lips. "But I don't plan much of anything else for that matter if that's what you're concerned about. Who knows where the winds will blow?" How could the stallion forget that not long ago, he had seen her in flight in the misty woods, a fugitive to some sort of terror or another. Did she perhaps consider he may be just another monster? Sarim spoke of the winds, a saying among the desert-born to say the future was uncertain...if they would be friends, lovers, scorned lovers, enemies or some combination of relationship. The confidence in his voice implied he was not afraid come what the future held.
"You are mine now. This means I am responsible for you as you are bound to me." he added softly, making it clear that he was serious on the matter, although he did smile confidently.

The blue mare whisked her light brown tail on both sides of her as she listened to Sarim "to see...a friend." why did those words make her worry? "an ally would be a good thing before I proceed. I am actually on my way to the islands." he spoke, Ebony wondered what he meant by needing an ally and why would he need to got to the islands? And of course her questions where answered "there's a woman with a possible job for me." As he spoke this Ebony raised an eyebrow "what sort of...Job?" Sarim winking made Ebony feel nervous what was he planning? As they continued walking Ebony looked at the ground most of the time until he spoke again, his laugh made Ebony put her ears back and she stopped as well glancing at Sarim. "I don't think I understand your question Ebony. I don't plan on abandoning you if that is what your asking. You're free to do as you wish so long as you don't leave me." That was actually exactly what Ebony ment she was sure Sarim would abandon her at some point. Ebony felt a little better as Sarim smiled, "But I don't plan on much of anything else for that matter if that's what your concerned about. Who knows where the wind will blow?" he spoke, Ebony raised her head to reply "I thought after awhile you would leave me that's all." Ebony attempted to shrug it off. "You are mine now. This means I am responsible for you as you are bound to me." Sarim's reassuring words made Ebony smile. "Yes thank you Sarim" she smiled warmly at him, "I look forward to our travels together," she added in. ---Ooc: vnes♥ Really? That's cool I do it all the time

AL-SARIM [Lionhearts and Misfits]
It seemed the more the hellion spoke, the more puzzled the charcoal maid became. "What sort of...Job?" she asked with a tinge of worry in her eyes. Patiently the sahib gave her a reply. "Don't know yet, but I've a feeling the favor in return will be well worth the effort. Such is the life a mercenary dearest." He searched her eyes, as if waiting for her to change her mind about all this, his expression however was cool and composed. "I have met a lord who seems civil enough. I hope he will give us sanctuary for the winter until our travel resumes in the spring. It would also be good to have a haven to flee too if things go badly on the islands." Interestingly enough, she spoke lightly and casually as if he were talking about the weather perhaps. The gravity of the situation was that a mercenary had always to watch his back, and things could fall apart at any given time in a given contract. The aftermath could mean possibly injury as well as death. It was hard to explain why exactly he lived this lifestyle...this was always his way, his plan so to speak...Ebony now had to be worked into that plan. He felt she could be a part of this life he was building, but Ebony could speak for herself if she thought otherwise.
"I thought after awhile you would leave me that's all." The lady spoke casually, he wondered if she was perhaps embarrassed to have asked? She had no reason to be. The brute of darkest mahogany tinged like night nudged her gently before continuing. His words seemed to reassure her then. "Yes thank you Sarim...I look forward to our travels together." He tousled her forelock playfully before proceeding to walk again. The silence sank in gently, the sound of birds singing their last song as they took flight with their families to warmer skies. "Ebony..." he spoke her name softly. "...you don't have to tell me if you do not wish to. But what brought you to the forest? What exactly were you fleeing from?" There was an obvious gravity to his voice as he felt her past and her truths were not a joking matter, but his quick glance over was gentle and encouraging. He could wait as long as she wished him too.

"Don't know yet, but I've a feeling the favor in return will be well worth the effort. Such is the life a mercenary dearest." Ebony listened with a slight chuckle "alright..." the blue mare listened as he continued talking "I have met a lord who seems civil enough. I hope he will give us sanctuary for the winter until our travel resumes in the spring. It would also be good to have a haven to flee too if things go badly on the islands." Ebony nodded her head, having a place to stay for winter would be nice but what was he planning to do that made them need a safe haven. Ebony flicked her tail as if there was a fly "what do you plan on doing that may require a haven?" she questioned. Ebony listened to the birds songs as the flew across the sky only to look back up as Sarim spoke. Ebony..." she walked up next to him and waited for the stallion to continue,"...you don't have to tell me if you do not wish to. But what brought you to the forest? What exactly were you fleeing from?"
This made Ebony freeze for a second before continuing walking, with a sigh she spoke "i suppose I'd have to tell you sooner..." and Ebony began. "I was in a harem of sorts most of my life full of stallions, there where only two other mares, Sleet a old mare and Rosemary and quiet young mare barley older than a filly. In that group the stallions wanted more Colts...and if a filly was born... the mare trailed off and glanced at her right hip where two clearly visible hoof print scars made their selves known "Rosemary she- she couldn't take it anymore and passed a year ago. That night I tried to run with my...my born filly but was caught and she was also killed, a year after that I finally escaped." Ebony did not add in what happened to Sleet for she didn't know. After she had told Sarim why she ran the blue mare began to walk again not looking back at him. ----Ooc: ( vnes♥) sorry it took so long to reply I was thinking of how to tell her story!

AL-SARIM [Lionhearts and Misfits]
A winter that was not so lonely...Sarim took a second to register the thought with a smile. "Alright...what do you plan on doing that may require a haven?" He had managed to find himself a lass with intellect and a knack for asking a lot of questions. But Sarim was a patient virile and the question itself was a valid one. This time he did not respond so quickly as he carefully contemplated his answer. "I take up assignments where they are available, not always knowing what the contract itself will be. If I am successful, I am often rewarded. But in the unlikely event that I should fail...my life would be at stake...as would yours." Sarim was not smiling now, but he spoke of things as they were. This was the reality she had entered into, this was the life he had taken up and it was life dangerously lived on the edge. There would be women, there would be strange lands, there would even be blood. But the highest price would be if he ever caused Ebony harm on his failure. He was nonetheless confident (perhaps more than a little conceded) to pride himself on a reputation of success where he had yet to fail a mission. Still...who knew where the wind would blow? The dark bay brute smiled at her now, waiting for her, knowing this might only spark her to ask more questions which he welcomed. Sarim knew probing into her past would stir a reaction, perhaps it was too soon to ask such intimate things of her. Yet it was too late to retract the question and he wished to know if he had new enemies taking Ebony under his wing. The blue roan mare froze a while before continuing, which likewise caused him to stop and cast her a warm, comforting look until she was beside him once more. "I was in a harem of sorts most of my life full of stallions, there where only two other mares, Sleet a old mare and Rosemary and quiet young mare barley older than a filly. In that group the stallions wanted more Colts...and if a filly was born..." The stallion listened intently, his body composed but he could feel his blood boiling from a stirring anger. The history beneath the healed wounds on her body now seemed to come alive. The sun shone on her pelt, bringing out the murky blue tint over gray, and the elegant ash color of her face. There were savages in the world. Sarim wished he could change that, especially now for Ebony. At the same time, it was ironic to think that such savages were the sustenance of his craft, the masters that bade him to steal and conspire. The brute always avoided assignments that might compromise innocent lives, but he was not innocent by any means. The sword shall not be accountable as the wielder, but the weapon shall also be destroyed in fire. Such was the saying of the old sages.
Ebony continued, his attentions unwavering. "Rosemary she- she couldn't take it anymore and passed a year ago. That night I tried to run with my...my born filly but was caught and she was also killed, a year after that I finally escaped." He stopped then as Ebony continued on. "Ebony..." he called after her, wondering if this would make her stop. "...I'm sorry for the loss of your daughter." His eyes cast down now. A child never asked of whom it would be born to, what race, and time. Sarim knew this better than anyone else. His heart ached for her, how strong Ebony was to hold up as she did with so much in her heart. He might have loved a daughter with all the charms of Ebony (for the beast was fond of children). He might have gone mad to have suffered the loss Ebony had suffered. He motioned to her side again and waited quietly.

"I take up assignments where they are available, not always knowing what the contract itself will be. If I am successful, I am often rewarded. But in the unlikely event that I should fail...my life would be at stake...as would yours." Ebony slowly nodded her head at his response "sounds like fun" the mare responded sarcastically, lives being at steak...that seemed familiar to her and very unsurprising since he was after all, a mercenary. The blue mare was glad he at least did not lie to her about what Sarim did, she would follow him though and wouldn't stop until death, maybe she trusted him to much but she didn't care. Smiling back at Sarim the mare started to walk again. "Ebony..." This caused the mare to stop and look back, her knack for hiding her true feelings came in handy now she needed to act happy and fine with what happened in the past, even though on the inside the blue mare was near being torn apart by guilt and sadness knowing she was the one who killed her only child. While she lived with this everyday Ebony knew that she would one day seek revenge and that was he reason for living, although now the blue mare was sure she found a new reason to live and she was looking at him. "...I'm sorry for the loss of your daughter." with a slight smile Ebony spoke "don't be you didn't know, and you didn't do it. This was true, as the stallion walked up beside her Ebony looked forward and began to walk. AL-SARIM [Lionhearts and Misfits]
"Sounds like fun" This was a good sign that she was not going to leave on account of his line of work, no? The black-brown sahib sighed quietly as the conversation carried on. He took in Ebony's past with a boiling anger towards those who had harmed her. His cunning mind also began to devise a scheme to track down the vagabonds and make them pay dearly for their sins against the minx. Stallions killing offspring was not so strange in the world equines knew, but to Al-Sarim who knew the feeling of being the black sheep outcast of his litter saw now justification for such crimes. The virile called her name, she stopped, the black of her mask also masking the storm of things that were swirling inside her heart. The blue roan lady was strong and she wished to keep her true feelings to herself. The virile would respect that...for now. Ebony might soon discover he was not a man who was ignorant of the feelings of those he cared about.
"Don't be you didn't know, and you didn't do it..." She did not wait for him as he came up beside her, but turned and moved away. He settled to run his velvetine to run the length of her back before he took lead again. "So...Where will our adventure take us?" The tone of the mare had become light once again, he smiled and focused ahead now. "To Foggy Hills." he said simply before picking up the pace.
