AL-SARIM [Lionhearts and Misfits]
It was eerie how even winter was misty here this place. It reassured him that he was perhaps heading in the right direction. They were nearing the lord's realm now, His winter coat was replacing the shimmer of his skin. How close he had come to the islands only circle back to the North where he might now find himself in the land of another with a lady under his wing. Who knew a wrong turn and chance encounter in the woods might land him bound to a lady as fair as this lass with her steady heart. The dark brute turned to seek her out before looking back at the new lithe before and around them. They had arrived at Foggy Hills, the lands ruled by Thrace. Al-Sarim wondered how the stallion was recovering. Their first and last meeting was by the creek where the hellion suffered somewhat severe burns across his body. Sarim had recommended honey, though he could not know whether the advice was taken or not...it was the other's freedom of choice. The journey had been long enough, soft powder began to fall here and there and the temperatures were dropping. Even now at mid-day with the sun high, the sky remained a soft gray and the breath came in misty clouds that appeared and faded from the nares of the living.
Detours made life more interesting, and he thought as he pondered how Thrace might receive him. The dark sahib led them further into the territory where the snowy hills, still a bit green as winter was just come lay peacefully. The valley was further inwards and as they progressed he called out again to make his presence known. Before entering the valley he stopped on the last hilltop and decided to graze here while there was still foliage to be had. The brute whickered to Ebony to see if she were okay.

Ebony had kept her head lowered almost the whole time the two where traveling, the white flakes falling from the sky made her thin winter coat less effective. Ebony did not know why but every winter the blue mare's winter coat always grew in thin, not like it was supposed to leaving her cold most winter. Looking up only occasionally to make sure she was following Sarim she smiled slightly as the stallion looked back at her, as she let out a long sigh she watched her breath roll out in white mist. This truly was horrible, winter it never had any thing good in store. Even the sun seemed to not care it's creatures where freezing , the sun seemed to have no warming effect. The only welcoming sight was the one of still green hills ahead which made Ebony lift her head and walk next to Sarim instead of behind the stallion. Ebony laid her ears back as the stallion called again to who she guessed was the leader of this land. Looking around the hills everything seemed to be turning white due to winter meaning grass would be less enjoyable. Ebony hadn't realized she had stopped walking to look around until she heard Sarim call for her. Seeing the outline of the stallion grazing she trotted up to him, as he was grazing Ebony studied him and started to laugh. "You look so...fluffy!" she began to laugh again. Equine winter coats made them look like large patches of fluff and it never seemed to not amuse her. ----- Words: 268 ooc: vnes♥ can't wait to see Ebony's reaction to another stallion and a lead one at that!

AL-SARIM [Lionhearts and Misfits]
"You look so...fluffy!" Ebony's voice ever sweet reached him. Teased him really. He snorted in a sort of "gee thanks" fashion, thorns folded slightly in mock agitation for there was hardly anything that really got Sarim down. "An old nag from my childhood used to say I was part sheep." he replied lightly. The dark bay recalled the old nag...he could never get along with the old bat. Once he had managed to find her cove of apples which were gifts to her and had convinced her that she had in fact ate them all and forgot. It was a pleasant memory to say the least. The sahib studied the blue roan mare, noting that in comparison her winter coat was thinner. This caused some concern. Perhaps, if Thrace accepted him, he might take her to other warmer climates just to keep her comfortable. He knew she would not mind the travel. In the meantime he motioned closer to the lady to help keep her warm and took a bite at the cold grass. Unfortunate that the greens tasted like winter...like life wilting away until come spring and time for new life, but it was sustenance just the same. "This is Foggy Hills, ruled by Thrace. We'll wait for a time here but if he does not come we may have to seek him in the valley." Just ahead beyond the trees, there were a spray of trees here and there and beyond that the valley. Perhaps Sarim should not know these things as he had yet to be invited into Thrace's land for a look-see. But he had inquired here and there and had made some of his own excursions making way to the island. Such were the ways of a thief, a mercenary and yes a poet story-teller. Ebony couldn't help but laugh as the stallion snorted, the blue mare wasn't trying to be mean it just came out that way. "An old nag from my childhood used to say I was part sheep." This made Ebony snort to hold back a laugh. The mare recovered "well you would be a handsome sheep" she teased once again. As Sarim moved closer the mare reminded herself that she would be very cold this winter with a sigh she lowered her head to the grass. "This is Foggy Hills, ruled by Thrace. We'll wait for a time here but if he does not come we may have to seek him in the valley." Ebony put her ears forward clearly interested. "I pray he doesn't mind us here in his land" the blue Roman mare raised her head away from the grass, it became bitter to her in the cold she did not very well know why. This stallion Thrace seemed very interesting to say the least from what she knew the equine owned much land. Foggy hills owned up to its name the blue Roman mare could not see very far in front of her, looking at Sarim she wondered if he could see and how he knew Thrace. So many questions for the mare to ask but she did not want to burden the stallion, realizing she was still looking at Sarim the mare looked away quickly. Not knowing much about this stallion also came to mind, if she was to travel with him she felt the need to know a little more than his name. Deciding to ask later the mare studied their surroundings. ---- Words: 291 Ooc: Bandit & vnes♥

AL-SARIM [Lionhearts and Misfits]
"...well you would be a handsome sheep" he laughed. "Indeed those were my exact words to the old one." The virile had come into his own in two places: the land he called the Old Kingdom and the desert. It was in the Old Kingdom that he had his childhood days. The desert held his reckless adolescent years and his early stallionhood days. He observed Ebony (he often did with sharp, dark eyes) and how she tried to eat but found the food perhaps not to her liking. The beast smiled mildly. He could likewise see the interest in her eyes at what the lead of the Hills might be like. Al-Sarim recalled the burns back by the Creek and genuinely hoped the lord had recovered from his injuries. They would find out soon enough should the hellion make an appearance through the fog that so fittingly gave the realm its name. A misty breath escaped his maw as he turned now to Ebony and motioned so that he might stand a certain angle to her body. Then he began to groom her starting at the neck he worked his way up slowly and gently. He applied light pressure, his breath against her skin and fluffing her winter bitten locks. The gesture was a sign of affection (he always had much to offer) and it was in hopes to help the lady keep warm. On his part it was rather delightful touching her skin where her winder pelt was soft in comparison to his own.
He paused. "Are you so sure you don't regret coming with me Ebony?" This was something also about Sarim. The virile was either quite thoughtful of the estate of the ladies he kept in his company, or he just had a knack for constantly testing them. For the hellion it could be either one or both. Sometimes, he just cared to know what was on the other's mind.

"Indeed those were my exact words to the old one." It was Ebony's turn to laugh at that. Ebony flicked her ears as she noticed Sarim smile but shook it off, as Sarim began to groom her Ebony's eyes widen slightly. Never had a equine done this and it sent shivers down her body, at the same time it felt nice with a sigh Ebony turned her head to look at Sarim. Ebony watched him fondly "thank you..." she spoke. "Are you so sure you don't regret coming with me Ebony?" This made the blue mare roll her eyes. "If I regretted it would I let you touch me so?" she was referring to the stallion grooming her coat. Ebony didn't trust stallions and she made that well known, she also could tell Sarim might be a lady killer, the way he treated her so. Whether the blue mare should say so was difficult, would saying something like she knew the stallion wasn't fond of her the way ebony was growing fond of him set Sarim off and leave her? The debate in her mind was driving the mare mad. Only time or a decision would tell, using her nose Ebony nudged Sarim affectionately as a thank you. Growing up in the barbaric harem she never had the luxury of having someone so kind by her side, even if it was only for a little while she would enjoy this. The blue mare constantly reminded herself now that Sarim was still a stallion. And stallions from what Ebony knew where more dangerous than a wolf, capable of breaking and tearing. ---- Words: 290 Ooc: vnes♥ & Bandit Oh she is so insecure

AL-SARIM [Lionhearts and Misfits]
"If I regretted it would I let you touch me so?" he finished then, feeling the smooth skin of her back and feeling perhaps a bit tempted to continue. But there was initially discomfort in her, he could feel that tension and he softened his touch to help her feel at ease again. He had asked because the blue roan lady seemed quiet of late, perhaps distant he thought. The sahib was interested to know what she was thinking in her quiet contemplation. Ebony was a smart femm and he was fairly certain there were questions in her head...merely awaiting the opportunity perhaps. Sarim would be patient. "Do you let me, love? Or do you wish me to?" The statement itself was bold, perhaps somewhat suggestive, his tones somewhat heavy. But as he pulled forward keeping his frame touching with hers, he smiled playfully. They were shadows in the white mist and the yet light frost of winter here in the hills, and being in the open air was perhaps not the warmest of ideas. The dark bay scoped the lithe to see if there was perhaps more suitable shelter they could take.
There was a young oak tree, frosted over and hoovering on its own towards the edge of the woods. The brute whickered as he motioned Ebony to come with him there. He motioned to the trunk and took to rub his side against it, satisfying the itch within that thick winter coat of his. His dark eyes turned to Ebony. Sarim was not at all regretting this little detour in his journey, having bumped into Ebony and having come this way. In the spring they would make way again together towards the islands. It was a rather large risk going there with a band...even of one, it took his leverage away. Sarim was contemplating all this every free moment of the day that he might best care for Ebony and whoever else might perhaps come under his wing during the winter. Thrace's lands could prove a safe haven for her, and perhaps others (for there was theft in the making) being far from the islands. But something told him Ebony might not sit well with this. The stallion heaved a sigh and looked out into the misty open. "Shall I tell you a story?" he asked out of nowhere with a smile. Ebony let out a long sigh as Sarim finished grooming her, "Do you let me, love? Or do you wish me to?" the question made Ebony shift her weight on her hooves. "Sarim...I want you to thus I let you" she said in a slightly hushed voice. As he moved still touch the blue mares body Ebony smiled herself as he did, such an odd stallion he was. Ebony, snapping to attention as Sarim whickered to the oak tree and of course Ebony followed, as he rubbed his side against the tree Ebony stifled a laugh. Taking the chance to rest her legs Ebony slowly lowered herself to the ground under the oak tree folding her back legs on the side of her doing the same for her front and closed her eyes listening to the wind. The mare wasn't tired just resting, the mare perked her ears and opened an eye as Sarim spoke once more. Looking up to see a smiling Sarim he spoke: "Shall I tell you a story?" now interested Ebony shook her head "please do" she said with a smile of her own. Ebony felt stories from Sarim would be more then interesting considering he was a traveling equine. Once again closing her eyes the mare listened to the wind and waited for his story to begin. Ebony had a few stories of her own she had told the young filly Rosemary when she could not sleep at night due to fear she would be killed, Ebony remembered quiet distinctly the story she told most to Rosemary about the two brothers Romulus and Remus the two stallion brothers who fought each other for land, Rosemary liked it but the blue mare was not sure why. ---- Words: 326 Ooc: vnes♥ & Bandit Romulus and Remus the two men from Rome who where raised by a wolf and fought each other for Rome.

AL-SARIM [Lionhearts and Misfits]
Sarim was one who might be able to hold his own in the presence of a lady, but the poet in him likewise subjected him to feel things more than a less sentimental stallion might not care to notice. The more he spent time with Ebony, the more he found himself becoming fond of her. This was perhaps as it should be. He was after all bound to her. He was her guardian, her keeper, and someone who truly cared about her. How far those feelings ran was yet to be determined. To Sarim there was a difference in loving and being in love, and he knew more of the first than of the latter. "Sarim...I want you to thus I let you" Had his heart stopped the stallion wondered. The blue roan minx was ever full of surprises, and her words caused him to steady his movements for a while before carefully resuming his usual composure, a smirk on his lips now. The dark bay, now sporting a wooly winter coat, was not your average male which gave him in most scenarios the element of surprise and often it was hard to surprise the perceptive beast in return. Ebony was likely making some kind of record in the short time that they've known each other.
Sarim finished his affectionate grooming of the beauty before motioning her to join him beneath the frosted oak. The lady laughed and he smiled, ever finding that sound refreshing in his ears. That he might have his own band of women as content as Ebony with him he might very much die a happy steed. It was the heart of his sin perhaps...his indulgence...for the thief remains a thief simply because he can never have enough. His heart was long hungry for great things lost. In his journey to reclaim what was taken, he was constantly finding himself making decisions for change. He made one now, though decided it best to let the mare know when it was time. There was also the matter of how far this band could accompany him to the islands for their own safety. He would decide on that later. For now, he decided it best to instead tell one of his tales...to which the blue roan minx happily accepted. The dark sahib watched as she closed her eyes and waited now for his tale to begin, the dark of her face serene...he felt himself drawn but remained where he was at the trunk of the oak.
"Very well. Our story begins in a palace..."
There lived a great Sultan who ruled over the desert tribes, where he had the hearts and respect of his subjects. The king had a son, the crowned Prince whom he loved dearly. The Prince was a soldier and he traveled many days and nights and great distances to strengthen alliances and keep enemies at bay. On one such travels in enemy lands, he met a poor fellow who was near death. The Prince halted his camp and had his physicians care for the old brute until he regained his health. But the elder was no ordinary sahib, but a Mystic who offered the Prince a gift for his kindness: mechanical wings that never grew tired, that could be removed and controlled by specific commands, that would ease his long travels. The Prince was amazed. The Mystic warned the Prince to never forget the commands, lest he be doomed to fly all the way to the sun. The Prince commanded "Ascend." and the wings began to beat and flap and off he went. The Prince used his weight to guide himself among the clouds of heaven until he came to a foreign land he did not know, and entered the royal lands of a family he'd never heard of, and in the dead of night he laid eyes on the most beautiful lady he had ever seen. He commanded the wings "Descend." and guided himself down to the woodland chamber where the lady appeared alone. The two talked until the dawn and by then had fallen madly in love.
The king who ruled to the western territory of Basara resented an intruder in his palace come to steal his daughter, nor did the king believe the Prince was really a prince come without army, dowry, or indications of wealth or power. The king ordered the Prince to be imprisoned, but he escaped. He returned to his homeland and was received with the joy of his father the Sultan, for he had thought his son lost to him forever. The Prince explained all that had happened and showed him the wings in which the Mystic had given him. The Sultan resented the mechanical things which he blamed for depriving him of his son and ordered that they be ceased. The Prince could do nothing but he set out the following day with his army, a dowry, and a wealth of subjects to claim his love. But the journey would be a long one to the city of Basara to which he did not know the way....
Sarim paused here as he heaved a breath and eyed a fox as it took across the open lithe and back into the other side of the woods. His eyes were on Ebony now, wondering what her thoughts were so far of his elaborate tale.

Ebony listened to the beginning, two horses meeting and talking until dawn seemingly falling in love instantly. That was what every equine wanted in life to live happy and truly be in love. But as fate would have it the two could not be, yet the stallion tired because he truly loved her. Oh how Ebony loathed the idea of this, from what she has learned in life true love did not exist and she learned the hard way, how foolish this stallion was to think he could find the mare, and using force to get her. To others Ebony's thoughts would be considered foolish and absurd but she had not known love like the two in the story, stealing a glance at Sarim she thought of what it would be like if they where forced apart, what would Sarim do? Better yet what would Ebony do? As Sarim paused Ebony opened her eyes and stood, nudging him she spoke "well what happens?" she asked eagerly wanting to know what the stallion would do. To her own surprise Ebony was enjoying Sarim's story and was eager to find out what happened next, could it be they never found each other? Or would they? Ebony nudged Sarim gently once more and smiled feeling quiet foolish for getting to eager to hear the next part of a foals story. Stepping back feeling she was in Sarim's space Ebony took note that maybe this story had something to do with the dark stallions past, could he be the stallion in the story? Hearing this and thinking there was a possibility it was true made Ebony's heart sink a little. ------ Words: 280 Ooc: vnes♥ & Bandit

AL-SARIM [Lionhearts and Misfits]
Sarim had made way with light steps to where ebony lay. He felt her nudge and where she shifted he remained close to her though her frame did not touch his limbs. During his tale, Sarim had taken to study the curves and impressions of her face, as she remained eyes closed and listening. The light winter wind just touched her now frost-kissed mane. It mattered little the mare remained a pretty picture to the sahib who after such a long time had something to admire again. Ebony filled a space that had been vacant for a long time and he had come to Mustang to start a new and continue to fill that same void with a great many beautiful femm's of this strange land. Of course for right now, Ebony had his attentions but as for his affections, he knew he had best keep a tighter reign on himself lest he lose all control and give into irrational emotions. Ever one to live in the moment, he kept his heart focused at present an the time they were spending together, and he truly did enjoy her company. The brute smirked content to know that his intended cliff-hanger held her interest as she asked for the rest of the story.
"Only because you ask so nicely, love..."
The Prince could do nothing but he set out the following day with his army, a dowry, and a wealth of subjects to claim his love. But the journey would be a long one to the city of Basara to which he did not know the way. But the fair Prince made inquiries and was thus directed. Unbeknownst to the Prince, his beloved was arranged to become the mate of another wealthy noble. After twenty-one days and nights, the Prince reached Basara with his army, his dowry and his subjects only to find the Princess and the King had set off to the place called Olinda where her suitor lived. The Princess pined and despaired for the Prince and refused to eat. There lived in Olinda a noble, the cousin of the Sultan who fathered the Prince. It was this such cousin Shiek who was arranged to marry the Princess of Basara. It was likewise this cousin who so happened to be in the audience with the Sultan on the Prince's return. The Shiek was intruigued by the tale and was granted to mechanical wings to destroy them. But rather than destroy them, the Shiek took them to Olinda where he donned them and bade them to give him flight. It was to no avail for he knew not what command to give or what needed to be done that the mechanical wings might spring to life.
The Prince directed his caravan to Olinda. There the Shiek received the Princess and her father with great joy. Ever scheming against his cousin the Prince, the Shiek kept his marriage secret and spoke nothing of his arrangement with Basara. Laying eyes on the woman, he fell full of lust and desire for her where the lady loathed him and wailed for her beloved. On the day of the wedding, the Prince had arrived and not a moment too soon. Infuriated, the Shiek ordered his capture and execution for his treachery and foul intentions. The Prince (clever he was) made plea for his life knowing from his servant that the Shiek was in possession of the mechanical wings. "Should my dear cousin be merciful, I shall teach him the secret of the wings that he may be unchallenged in his new reign. Only let me and the Princess return to Isenhaad." The Shiek could not refuse for the secret of the wings had baffled him and disturbed his rest. The exchange was made. The Shiek donned the wings and the Prince pulled the pin that animated the things and he pulled again so that the pin broke without detection. He instructed the Shiek to command the wings to Ascend and he did and so he took flight. Up and up the Shiek flew until he had vanished from view, for he knew not the command to Descend and the mechanism itself had been destroyed by the Prince. The Shiek was not seen again.
The Prince seized Olinda which was under his father's rule as a territory. The King of Basara had threatened war and so with mercy beyond measure and love for his Princess, the Prince and swiftly exiled the King of Basara back to his homeland. With his beloved beside him, they made the journey back to Isenhaad, received by the joy of his father, the two were married and so lived and ruled over the lands of Isenhaad. They had four sons...one of which is called the Alchemist.
"His story...perhaps I shall share with you another time." he teased as he finished and motioned to nudge her gently before motioning outwards and looking over the lithe. Still no sign of the the lord of the realm. The virile shook himself becoming a bit restless and thinking to go poking around the place. At the same time, it would also be wise to rest while he still could. Looking back at Ebony he returned to her side and stood there making impressions in the soft and yet thin snow.

"Only because you ask so nicely, love..." This made Ebony roll her eyes, stupid stallion. Of course she was just playing around but Sarim was so odd she could not explain it. Ebony was content with the ending, of course the mare would be saved and they would live happily. But the thing that made her curious was how he ended with the Alchemists. What did that mean? She was now curious she hated that the dark stallion did that to her, with a snort Ebony listened to him speak "His story...perhaps I shall share with you another time." with a sigh Ebony replied "fine..." Slowly stepping out of the protection of the young oak the blue mare looked up at the sky, the white flakes touched her nose instantly melting. How did this seem so familiar to the mare? Shaking the thought the blue mare's Amber eyes seemed to glow with mischief. Backing up slightly then rearing Ebony kicked the air followed by a Winnie the mare dropped back to the ground and looked back to Sarim. Whisking her tail the mare took a few steps forward, then she reared again but this time she did not rear all the way up but just enough to kick her legs before she took off at a slow gallop. AL-SARIM [Lionhearts and Misfits]
The black-bay sahib smiled with satisfaction as he had achieved the desired response in the blue lady. "fine..." she said with what sounded like mild agitation. He watched the light play her skin, which still shimmered somewhat beneath that thin winter coat of hers. Sarim thought, as he redirected his gaze to a small bird that took to stirring some snow above in the tree, that he should be cautious in not watching her so much lest he be caught in the snares of emotion which he did not need right now. Still he thought, as his eyes moved back over the lady again, how long had his eyes been in the desert of his own selfish loneliness. She was warmth beside him he had not had in a while. Not love, just...company that might appreciate his company in return. A companion so to speak. Love was something to write about, easy enough to give, and receive, but dangerous to fall into mused the poet. Many verses came to mind both tragic and happy. The odds were fifty-fifty on that subject.
The brow of a single orb rose mildly as he caught that mischievous glint in her amber eyes, elegantly placed orbs perched and turned forward as he watched her carefully. He grunted at her reaction as he motioned a bit off to the side, a smile on his face and a familiar restlessness returning to his limbs. But the lady was not through yet as she whipped her banner and motioned forward. Again she moved excitedly before kicking up a wave of snow quite rudely in Sarim's direction. Hardly one to be moved to anger, he but averted his eyes to avoid her assault before he reared to full height and dashed after her. The virile easily caught up to the minx and he nipped at her withers playfully before pulling ahead. He turned then. "Race to the valley? Or do you wish to play the thief and I the bounty-hunter?" The hellion winked before changing direction suddenly sending some snow her way and keeping a good one equine's length between.

Ebony gasped lightly and looked back as her withers were nipped and found Sarim, watching him go ahead made Ebony snort show off! she thought with a laugh. "Race to the valley? Or do you wish to play the thief and I the bounty-hunter?" the blue mare smiled "well we will see if you can catch me," slowing enough to kick the thin layer of snow up she aimed to hit Sarim with the snow before galloping off ahead of the dark horse. With a laugh Ebony looked back, the blue mare had gained distance between the two and headed towards the valley. Ebony's body had grown quiet warm from running like she had planned making her satisfied. Now the blue mare could think more about other things then her being cold, looking back once more at her dark companion she thought that this side of him must not be one that was shown often. Most of the time he was serious looking or just not the kind to play, today Ebony had proven herself wrong despite a horses age they would always play. Kicking up snow behind her the blue mare skidded to a stop as she neared a rather steep hill. Looking down it the snow seemed rather deep down there and most likely would cover up to the bottom of her barrel. Chuckling the blue girl looked back another mischievous grin upon her face, she needed to wait for Sarim to reach her and then her little plan would work.
