Neurotic is the first word that comes to mind when describing Xenosa. She's almost always shifting her weight when at a stand still and almost always poised to fight. You could call her paranoid. She's also very detached from herself and others. It's as if she doesn't understand her own emotions, and from the way she handles things, most would agree. Most commonly, the femmore seems irate and therefore unapproachable, but all this anger is merely a cover up of her own insecurity. She distances herself emotionally as much as possible from everyone, refusing to feel what she doesn't understand. Deep down, however, Xenosa can be quite the charmer and even a bit bubbly. Beyond her tough exterior is a sensitive mare who longs to know trust. While she's intelligent, it doesn't stop her from being reckless. She loves a thrill and will sometimes go out of her way to provoke a good adrenaline rush. In a nutshell, Xenosa is unpredictable; a bomb waiting to explode. Until you get past that heart of stone, anyway.
History: Xenosa's story is one of simplicity and tragedy. The details? Well, there are as many details as rumors to match. For now, we'll keep it simple.
Xenosa was born to Roman, a rogue stallion who was cynical at best, and Casiya, a mare who traveled with a band of mares. Now, Roman had no interest in things such as collecting harem and ruling a band of his own, no. Instead, the stallion merely wanted to expand his bloodline. Casiya's unguarded band had been a perfect target in his young age. After the birth of his offspring, the stallion disappeared, leaving the band of mares four members larger; three colts, one filly. Xenosa, who was the third eldest, resembled her mother exactly with her markings and eye color, but took her overall body shape after her father - as two of the colts had.
For a time, the world was a simple one. Until Roman returned with another rogue stallion; one of his sons whose mother had died. The new stag was merely a yearling, same as Xenosa and her siblings. Roman proudly announced that this young stag would be the herd leader of Casiya's band and there was tension. Casiya refused, and it was clear that Roman wouldn't take no for an answer. A few days after Casiya's refusal, the youngest colt disappeared. Although frightened, Casiya stood firm against her refusal. Soon after, the second eldest disappeared, leaving only Xenosa and her older brother. Casiya encouraged the two to leave the herd, but now Roman had other plans.
As the duo departed, Roman attacked. As they raced away from home, they could hear the chaos behind them. They knew what it meant, and they knew they no longer had a home to go back to. The eldest blamed Xenosa for her mother's decision to stand her ground. While Xenosa hadn't played a part, it was her mother who had refused Roman and his son. Xenosa caught the grudge from her brother that was meant for her mother; deemed guilty by association. Even still, the two remained together, though Xenosa was always pushed around and bullied. Having no knowledge of the world, the yearling was terrified. The way her brother treated her provided no help to learn and teach her how to survive.
Merely a year later, Xenosa woke up alone. Her brother was no where to be found after running off with a pretty little mare the duo had met during their travels. Having never been alone, Xenosa was afraid and confused. It took only a few months before Xenosa had compiled her view of the world. To her, it was a world of chaos. She'd been hunted by beasts and watched as they'd hunted other prey so relentlessly. She'd been abandoned by her own kin and an outcast among the few groups she traveled with from time to time. For two years, this is how the mare has lived. Never settling and always looking over her shoulder. However, at four years of age, she feels that it may be time to settle into a group, even as an outcast.
