River is a young stallion with a boyish mentality. He's playful and loves to make others happy. River is a kind stallion with a lot of love to give. He's generous and always willing to help those in need, though he can be a bit over-protective, especially of his loved ones. River loves to think, which also leaves him doing a lot of worrying. Once he starts worrying, he can be a little obnoxious and boy, are you going to hear it later. Like most equines, River enjoys routine. Day in and day out, it's always the same for the stallion, but he wouldn't have it any other way. However, he's still adaptable. He's rather independent, but always loves company. While he can get along with almost anyone, he can also be a little picky about the company he keeps. He's firm when it comes to discipline and sets high standards for those who associate with him, which can make him seem judgmental, though he's nothing of the sort. Instead, he's a curious stallion who's always willing to please, although he won't stand down from his beliefs.
History: River was born to a large band of horses led by a mustang stallion named Karos. During the time of his birth, the herd flourished with young. Karos was a known stallion, allies with many around him. Very few veered too far into his territory and even fewer made him an enemy. He was a strict stallion, setting high standards for his mares and young. Colts were to be gentleman like, kind, generous, and mature. The duty of a colt was to learn how to protect others and be a strong leader. There was no time for frolicking and play. Fillies were taught to be lady like, respectful, and strong. Older fillies spent their days helping dams with their new borns while older colts were learning to patrol perimeters and battle.
River seemed to be the most liked among the herd. His sense of wonder seemed to strike a playfulness among himself and others. However, his sense of dutifulness made him responsible and mature. This was looked upon favorably, by his father and the others. Karos could see himself in the young colt, and because of that, Karos taught River more closely.
As River aged, it was clear what he'd become; a replica of his father. Both exhibited bay roan coats and a sense of strongly held responsibility. The way the young stallion carried himself and even spoke with his almost formal tongue mimicked that of his father. At two years of age, he was decided heir to his father's lands and given permission to start a small band of his own among the territory in preparation for the day he'd become king.
By age three, River had young of his own. Life was luxurious. The mother of his child was to be his queen someday, and their little girl was proving to be quite a spitfire, though River quickly began to demonstrate discipline much like his father had. Their small family lived happily with the herd of Karos and the world seemed peaceful, as it always had.
It was merely a year later that life changed in only moments. A wildfire had began to consume the lands they called home. It scorched their plains and buried their beloved home in a sea of ash. River, separated from loved ones, searched for them restlessly for weeks. After finding no sign of anyone and losing direction of his home, the stallion simply left, traveling to anywhere he could find that could be called home.
