The black beauty made her way through the warm land letting the sound of the bubbling spring sooth her tired mind while looking for a good place to rest and stay for a while. "Come Plato we must find a stopping place before nightfall." She hoped her mischievous son would stay close by. He seemed to always get in some kind of trouble between trying to fight any live thing in his path to wandering far from their chosen road. "Mother must we continue much longer?" the voice of her son spoke from close behind her. He was mischievous but seemed to listen as well as could be expected of a yearling. With that fault out of the way he was very polite then most foals she'd had experience with in her previous herd. "Tauriel don't get ahead of yourself he's just your first one." she thought to herself. "We are almost there. Its just a few feet more." she replied looking behind her. Plato was trailing 3 feet behind her and did look tired. "It will be longer for you if you keep up that pace." she teased looking ahead. A few seconds later he was walking beside her. She smiled and walked a few more feet before stopping. "Here we are." she said. "At last!" Plato cried running to the hot springs and jumping in. The next minute he was out and running around crying "Hot! Hot!". Tauriel laughed as she reached the springs. "I could have told you." she said. Plato stopped and shot her a look that said 'Very funny' before plopping down beside the steam and closing his eyes. "That looks like a good idea." she thought. "But first a dip in the springs will feel better." And with that she slipped in closing her eyes and sighing. The water soothed her tired muscles and made her coal black coat even darker if possible. She forgot all about laying down on the ground and just lay in the shallow pool. Before letting the sound of the spring and her son's even breathing lull her to long-needed slumber, she wondered where her knight in shining armor had found himself. As she thought of him far back in her mind she heard a song her mother used to sing when fall turned to winter and her real father was away and she (her mother) longed for him. It was a song sung by an ancient lead mare that her mother had heard as a child. As the song ran through her mind at last she fell into sleep.
With a sigh
You turn away
With a deepening heart
No more words to say
You will find
That the world has changed
Forever
I amar prestar aen (The world is changed)
And the trees are now
Turning from green to gold
And the sun is now fading
I wish I could hold you
closer
Time and tide will sweep all away
With a sigh
You turn away
With a deepening heart
No more words to say
You will find
That the world has changed
Forever
I amar prestar aen (The world is changed)
And the trees are now
Turning from green to gold
And the sun is now fading
I wish I could hold you
closer
Time and tide will sweep all away
