Deformity/Unique Trait: She has HERDA (Hereditary Equine Regional Dermal Asthenia). This causes her skin to be very sensitive and tears easily. i.e: A nip can tear her skin apart as if she'd been bitten. [it is a genetic that some QH's pass to their offspring. It is strictly genetic.] (This term simply means dermal weakness in certain areas of the body. It is an inherited connective tissue disorder characterized by abnormal skin that separates readily from the underlying tissues, and tears easily. Any trauma or pressure can literally pull the skin apart. The problem is often not discovered until a young horse goes into training, when the simple act of wearing a saddle creates massive injury to the skin.)

Personality:
Patient: Mercury is a very patient mare. She has a lot of patience for mares and foals, but less patience for stallions. On stallions, she believes they need to make a decision right away or she leaves them to wonder what they did wrong. Mares are a different story. She doesn't make many mare friends due to drama, but she does listen if they need to talk. Foals.. Well, most mares without foals seem to have little to no patience for the little devils themselves. She can stand their loudness, baby-like actions, and even them begging to play.
Kind: She believes everyone should be treated with kindness.. Even if it kills them. She tries her hardest to be kind to everyone, but her enemies get killed with it. If, for example, a stallion is rude and forceful, she wards him off with way too much kindness. It's something she's in the middle of mastering, but it's the thought that counts.
Smart: Mercury is a very smart mare. Fool her once, shame on her. Fool her twice, shame on you.. And prepare for a living hell. [That's... That's about it for her being smart. :/ hah]
Playful/Devil-like: She can be super playful towards most, but treat her the wrong way and she's a total nightmare. Some would say she's got a 'sweet and sour' personality, but she doesn't. She just doesn't stand for rude behavior and can stand the playful thoughts.
History:
*I'm keeping this short and sweet* Mercury was born from a lone mare--her sire dead due to a lightening storm. She never knew her father and hardly knew her mother, even though she'd been with her for the first two years of her life. On her second birthday, Mercury's mother was hunted and killed right before her eyes. The scene haunts her constantly and, even though it's not who she is, she can be very distant when it comes to talking about her past. She's been on her own ever since, refusing to join a herd simply because that stallion wanted to add her to his collection of mares. She enjoys the company of the odd lone horse--mares preferred--but she doesn't stick around long. She wants to fall in love and find 'the one', but knows that 'the one' only comes around once in a blue moon. She enjoys the islands or rain forests as a home simply because of the beauty and unique-ness of it all.
