Personality: Donanza had lived a very tramatic life despite her chipper and fun-loving demeanor. She was very optimistic, choosing the silver lining over whatever dark clouds might have loomed over her life. Though she wasn't extremely talkative, she thrived on the company of others. She was a very friendly and honest creature, seeing no need to to play games or wear masks.
The events of her life and her subsequent attempted-suicide changed that demeanor however. Oh, she plays the gentle and happy female of her old existence, though her heart is no longer in it. It has become a charade for her. She lives as a shell, her spirits always low and her optimism turned to pessimism. She doesn't understand why she survived and she constantly feels unworthy of the honor. She has sometimes been considered mute in because she simply has no desire to be close enough to anyone to talk. When she is close enough or must talk, she says very few words and talks in a near whisper.
She shies away from company and prefers to wander alone. She has grown extremely nervous around others, preferring to live life as a veritable introvert. She constantly makes excuses as to why she leads her life in a the bleak existence of solitude. She is no more fearful of stallions than she is of her fellow mares, as she has a distaste for all company. She is a demur creature, with a soft and composed way of moving and speaking. One might not know of her inner turmoil until she speaks.
History: Though her history is rather long a ornate, for the purpose of summarizing it some things will be compressed and lack great details. She was the daughter of Versigh and Trinoble, two members in the Royal Inner Circle of the feared King Gotlum. From a young age she was groomed to be mated to one of the leads of Gotlum's minor lands. She was given the choice, by her mother's request. At the age of 2 she met Ferdinand, a young and noble lead who ruled over Nervana. In the beginning they were very amiable toward eachother. They developed a friendship and it was not long before she announced to the peerage that she wished to be mated to him. Ferdinand went before Gotlum and requested her mateship. With no reason to deny him, Gotlum agreed.
Before she could be formally turned over to Ferdinands care, however, a more powerful lead stole her from the King's land. Alodian, lead of a larger land desired her for her rank within the King's inner circle. In the beginning he saw her only as a tool to bribe the King. He knew that the Inner Circle would demand her return at whatever cost. It was a year, however, before the King saw fit to respond to the bribes. He did not desire to anger Alodian, for the lead had an Army that Gotlum needed under his control. By this time, Alodian had grown fond of the young mare. Donanza was every bit of light and laughter that Alodian had not thought to desire. She refused his request to become his mate, however, her heart still set on Ferdinand.
Offering up 3 beautiful mares from his Harem, Gotlum was rewarded with Donanza's return to court. She was then formally deemed the mate of Ferdinand. The two were loving and passionate mates, who had not only the obedience of Nervana but the herds loyalty and love as well. They were a grand pair, who saw themselves as destined for each other. Their happiness was evident, though short-lived. Alodian, angered at how loving Donanza was toward Ferdinand and her previous rejection of his own declaration of love, could not stand their relationship. He made constant attempts to regain her, attempting steals and causing small fights to break out among the lords.
Finally, knowing of Gotlum's need of his Army, he bet his luck in threatening to give his loyalty and his Army to the King of the other half of Piodora, Ludwig. Terrified of losing an army and desperately wishing to retain Alodian's Loyalty, Gotlum gave Royal Decree that Donanza and Ferdinand's union was no longer royally recognized. Donanza was to be turned over to Alodian on threat of her mate's life. With a heavy heart, the herd of Nervana left their land empty and followed their Lord and Lady to the Public Domains. Donanza was handed over to Alodian, with the entire Royal Guard and Gotlum himself there to bare witness.
She did not remain in Alodian's lands for long. Though constantly mistreated by a mare who favored Alodian as a potential mate, and living in a herd that held no care for her turmoil, Donanza remained optimistic that she would be reunited with her mate. Though a year went by excruciatingly slowly, not once did Ferdinand send word that he had a plan of getting her back. Her hope dwindled until the fateful night that, as she slept at Alodian's side, Ferdinand beckoned her awake. Startled, she felt the greatest sensation of relief sweep through her. Her chance to escape came in the shape of an unlikely ally. Knowing that Alodian did not sleep well alone, the very mare who had hated her existance, Israel, offered to replace her sleeping form. As Israel cuddled close to a male who rejected her love and vied for the love of another, Donanza and Ferdinand moved swiftly through the night toward Nervana.
When morning came, Gotlum was giving word of what he considered as treason. His guards were sent to bring the fated pair before him. In front of the entire Inner Circle, he ordered Ferdinand put to death for defying a royal decree. Donanza's parents, knowing their daughter would not survive such a thing, begged for his life to be spared. Donanza, not knowing what else to do, declared that should he die she would soon follow. Gotlum would not be moved, however, and had his guards slaughter the golden and black stallion that moment. Donanza, feeling as though her own life had been stolen, ran. Many followed her, thinking she was simply escaping Alodian's claim and could not possibly mean to kill herself.
As she came to the ocean, however, she leaped through the heavy waters until she no longer had footing. Even then she continued swimming. Eventually the guards turned back, assuming she would need to come back to land when she tired. In stead, as her limbs grew too heavy to use she allowed herself to sink. As she drifted farther into the murky and darkened waters of the ocean and her last breath escaped her, she could only pray that she would be reunited with Ferdinand in death.
When she awoke, however, she realized she was not in the same spiritual state as Ferdinand. By some slip of fate she had been carried to a knew land. So, she assumed, it was her fate to wallow in the loss of her beloved for eternity. Her life was destined to be miserable.
