Breed: Gypsy Vanner x Shire
Age: 6 years
Arrived in MUSTANG: Fall, Y7
Coat Color: Sorrel Tobiano
Height: 16hh
Eye Color: Grey
Personality: Merida cares little for herself. She is a highly respective mare that treats herd leaders as kings and does not think that mares should ever lead a herd all by themselves. She is highly mannered around stallions but doesn't give a crap about mares. With stallions she is kind, respectful, playful, flirty, while around mares she can prove to be quite the hell raiser and is prone to starting fights with a mare just because she's there. In herds, she wants to be the 'best' mare, she wants everyone to talk about how wonderful, useful and beautiful she is, when in truth she's simply running herself ragged.
History: She was born to a rather strange family. She and her parents had belonged to an estranged old man that liked to collect elegant looking horses, large and graceful with hairy legs. Her sire was dominant in this little domesticated herd owned by the old man and always treated mares as objects. Every year the man would get foals by these five or so mares and the 'lead' mare, Merida's mother, would make sure that she was the main female in the group. The young colts in the group never lived very long, some think that the head stallion may have done away with them.
Merida was born the year the old man died. She adopted her mother and father's strange way of living and running their lives. When she was old enough, the tame horses escaped their enclosure and escaped into the wilds, going in different directions. When she matured to age three, her parents had already had two more foals, she decided that she was going to find her own herd to serve under any stallion that may claim her under his wing.
Just like her mother had done before her, she treated herself as an object and strongly believed that mares should only provide foals for the strongest stallions, nothing more.
