Personality: Star is an adventurous little female, charismatic and altruistic. The eldest of her family, young Star has taken it upon herself to watch over and help out her family whenever they need it- just as a big sister ought to do, right? Sometimes it is difficult. Loki and Clove don't seem to like it very much, and Nusha can be so strange. But Star loves them with all her heart- her mother and father too.
When it comes to her relationship with her parents, Star looks at them and sees her heroes. The little mare relies heavily on her mother for love and protection, and doesn't particularly care if she's teased about it. As for Roman, the girl looks up to the stallion as a role model and a protector, and is always mimicking him. Amongst the rest of the family, Star gets mixed revues. However, she gets along well with the younger generation and likes them quite a bit. She only wishes for a second chance to show her family how sorry she is for the trouble she has caused as she grew up.
History: Star was born to a large herd with multiple other foals. The herd lands consisted of stunning meadows, with an awe-inspiring view of mountains that were usually silhouetted against the sky at sunset. A vast lake occupied part of the lands and some woodland bordered the meadows. There was no finer place around. The foals born were in the lime light for a fair while, doted upon by all. Despite the happiness of her first few weeks of this world, the other horses began to loose interest in Star and she was frequently overlooked. Her mother had raised her well, for she was well mannered, respectful and polite. The young dunalino was her parents’ first born, but she was just one of a fair few fillies in the herd and nothing special in comparison. Her golden behavior was rarely commented on, and she was beginning to feel deprived of attention. She couldn't fathom why her behavior didn’t earn her respect or attention from others, and it ate away at her for some while. Whilst her parents always gave her theirs’, she was starting to want it from her friends and the other herd members too. Feeling like an underdog, she noticed one day that after a colt had done wrong deeds, he received exactly what she was after. Awareness from all. She began to follow his example, and soon befriended the rude, boisterous colt.
The two of them began to get into all sorts of mischief and it was her faith and ever building trust in this colt that she was able to commit such acts. From teasing the other foals to manipulating them to fight amongst themselves, the filly lost her sense of right or wrong for a time. The colt, whose name was Deimos, manipulated young Star skilfully. Several months in and he was a deceitful yearling whilst Shining Star was still a few months before her first birthday. He took the blame for the most part, but Star relished in the attention she was getting whether it was negative or not. She no longer spent most of her time with her parents or siblings, who were disapproving of her behavior to say the least. It was not the last however. When she turned one, Deimos told her they were going to have some fun. He led her and two other yearlings away from the herd in the shelter of some woodland. Prior to this he’d been putting his fellow yearlings on edge by telling them that the other had been spreading rumors about them and vice versa. Leaving Star by the edge of a clearing, he promised the stallions that if they fought, whoever won would be able to have her. Oblivious to the real reasons, the filly watched as the fight commenced.
However this time something went wrong. One of the yearlings was killed, and the other was seriously injured due to Deimos getting involved occasionally. When they were found and an explanation demanded, Star’s friend betrayed her trust as much as he could have. Deimos announced that he had tried to stop the fight that Star had induced between the two stallions by spreading rumors and lying to each of them about something the other had said. Her track record not being clear and Deimos’ outstanding talent at telling lies, Star was banished from the herd. Her trust was broken and it is from her banishment and no second chance that her problem with authority stemmed. Not only this but her once best friend had always told her what to do. Deimos getting her banished from her herd devastated her for several months and caused a major personality change. She moved as far from the herd as she could, further than tales could spread in hope of starting a new life somewhere.
Unfortunately for her, Star did not experience happiness for long. Whilst enjoying the spring sunshine an earthquake struck. Being close to a cliff she was prey to falling rocks. Despite her best efforts one managed to nick her shoulder quite badly. It healed well but the scar is there as a permanent reminder of how close she came to death. It plays heavily on her mind.
