Jess has a kind disposition, always ready to hand. A true kind-hearted soul if there ever was one in today's world of destruction and corruption...but don't take this for granted my friend. She has enough reason and sense to know when she's being taken advantage of, and this rather spirited mare will stand for herself, she knows she's not a mat to be stepped upon, and thus refuses to be treated as such. Her morals and beliefs are set in her mind and she stands for each of them with all the stubbornness in the world. She refuses to back down, a spirit hard to break and a heart that's even harder to conquer. She's not easily taken by kindness and honey-coated words...she's taken by great personalities, by nobleness and great actions...not mere promises and sweet compliments. She's not hard to anger, but it's not impossible to do so either...and when she's angered, it's usually best to remain a respectful distance away until she calms.
History:
She was born in the wild, but captured by humans at the age of 5 months along with her mother. They lived in captivity until Jess turned 2 years of age, the entire time her mother telling her stories of living free and wild. When Jess was being loaded to be sent off to another ranch far away, she heard her mother calling to her that she had enough strength to escape the hands of the human...and to run and be free. At first Jess was uncertain, but then she saw the relaxed grip of the human holding the lead rope. She made the quick decision to buck and make a break for it, easily snapping the rope out of the guy's hand, and with only slight hesitation, she bolted away, at first back toward her mother, but her mother neighed, yelled at her to go toward the far off mountains...and to run as far away as she could without stopping, to get as much distance as she could between herself and the human ranch. At first Jess hesitated, not sure she was willing to leave her mother behind, but the temptation, the urge, the instinct to race away was strong...and she listened to her mother and bolted away, her legs pumping as fast as she could, away from the humans...and she has roamed free and wild for over a year now. Her halter and lead rope taken off by a young stallion she had met along the way...an almost-lover if you would.
